 day  10:
 tank  is  doing  good
 lighting  :  6-7  hrs/day
co2:  3  bubbles/sec  during  the  photo  period.  switched  off  otherwise
white  fungal  growth  on  drift  wood  noted.
 early  green  algae  growth  noted.
plants  doing  well.  good  new  growth.  hairgrass  has  rooted  well.
worried  about  the  algae.  hopefully  it  should  not  increase.  plan  on  decreasing  photo  period  to  4hrs  and  bi  weekly  40%  water  change

can  somebody  identify  this  algae.  it  seems  to  be  slowly  spreading  into  the  plants  and  substrate.  what  is  the  corrective  actions  to  be  taken?

thank  you.  yes,  i  think  so  too,  decreased  lighting  intensity  and  duration.kept  CO2  going  during  lights  out,   added  siamese  algae  eaters  and  did  a  manual  scrub  of  hard  scape  and  now  it  seems  to  be  better,  but  still  not  gone  away.

how  bad  can  this  get?  I  have  not  yet  started  fertilizing.  Is  it  better  to  wait  or  start  dosing  potassium?
its  day  12  since  tank  set  up.

Please  add  lots  of  fast  growing  plants  that  will  use  up  the  nutrients.  This  will  help  reduce  algae.  Slowly  reduce  the  stems  once  the  carpet  is  properly  formed

Its  good  to  start  dosing  all  nutrients  as  per  regime.  That  will  help  plants  grow  better,  which  in  turn  will  lessen  algae.

Hair  algae  is  tough  to  fight,  sometimes  it  can  be  a  bad  source  of  water  as  well.  If  you  can  keep  your  CO2  at  30ppm  and  nice  flow  most  of  issues  should  resolve.

You  could  try  spot  dosing  H2O2  with  syringe  on  algae,  it'll  kill  it.  But  again,  might  come  back  if  above  not  taken  care.

   Thumb Up

@saikumar  :  thank  you   Thumbs Up  ,  as  you  rightly  said  fluctuating  co2  levels  might  have  been  the  cause.  the  algae  eaters  are  doing  a  fantastic  job  as  of  now  and  i  have  regularized  the  co2  flow.  will  start  dosing  the  ferts  from  tomorrow.  will  add  a  few  more  stem  plants.its  looking  good  now,  hopefully  will  stay  that  way.  cheers.

day  16.  added  siamese  algae  eater  4nos.  algae  seems  to  be  under  control.  dosing  started  with  cal  aqualabs  chrome  2  pumps/alternate  days.  inlet  and  outlet  pipes  seems  to  have  developed  green  spots.
