 Indian  fish  native  to  Maharashtra.
 This  fish  was  believed  to  be  extinct  till  recently.  Luckily  found  this  fish  in  the  native  feeding  fish  lot  supplied  to  local  aquarium  shops  to  feed  flowerhorns,  arrowanas,  etc.
 Our  aquatic  ecosystems  are  at  a  huge  threat  from  many  such  activities.  Please  don't  buy  local  native  fish  for  feeding  your  fish.
 Regards.  species  identification  done  by  Praveen  Raj  Jayasimhan.

 These  are  some  beautiful  fish!
 I  wonder  if  they  could  be  reintroduced  in  places  where  they  have  gone  extinct.

 Hi  kunalpawar785  Smile

 Thank  you  for  the  post!

 Is  this  fish  always  the  size  or  it  is  growing  bigger?

 @SantaMonicaHelp
 there  are  three  varieties  of  the  fish  above

 pethia  guganio  found  in  north  eastern  india
 pethia  sharmai  found  in  Southern  india
 puntius  fraseri  in  maharashtra.  this  specimen  was  found  in  maharashtra  but  not  from  the  previously  recorded  site.

 as  far  the  size  is  concerned  this  was  the  only  specimen  left  with  me.
