Well  guys  I  just  stumbled  upon  something  totally  unexpected.  I  have  been  conditioning  my  Otos  and  corys  for  breeding.  Today  I  was  up  at  2  AM  as  I  had  to  finish  up  some  work  on  my  computer,  tank  lights  were  off  but  the  light  across  the  room  was  on.  So  as  usual  I  glance  at  the  dimmed  out  tank  and  I  see  my  cardinals  frantically  swimming  in  a  huge  group.  I  initially  assumed  something  was  wrong  and  looked  at  my  temperature  and  water  line,  and  filter  but  everything  was  good.  Then  I  just  looked  at  them  again  and  sure  enough  I  see  a  thin  bugger  chasing  a  fat  what  I  assume  to  be  female  cardinal.  And  in  a  few  seconds  a  puff  of  eggs  which  I  could  hardly  see  I  ┬áthe  dim  light.  I  was  doubting  what  I  saw  until  I  noticed  the  corys  and  other  fish  actively  eat  what  fell  down.  I  am  now  thinking  of  doing  a  diy  spawning  mop  to  better  capture  the  eggs  and  guess  I  ll  have  to  invest  in  a  breeding  tank  sooner  than  I  thought.

Above  is  the  YouTube  link  to  what  I  managed  to  capture  in  almost  darkness  with  my  phone.  You  can  see  spawning  behavior  towards  the  end  on  the  top  right  after  which  they  released  eggs  which  I  didn't  film.  I  am  now  investing  my  time  on  a  diy  spawning  mop.  Now  I  know  it's  next  to  impossible  to  raise  the  light  sensitive  fry  from  the  light  sensitive  eggs.  But  figured  I  would  give  it  a  try  anyway.  Wish  me  luck.

Can  anyone  with  experience  in  breeding  Pls  help  me  out?  My  cardinals  are  spawning  almost  everyday,  other  than  being  fish  food  for  the  other  residents,  I  have  no  means  of  removing  the  eggs  and  even  if  I  do  i  have  no  idea  how  to  go  about  the  hatching  process  and  the  rearing  of  fry.  I  don't  know  if  microworms  will  be  small  enough  to  feed  cardinal  fry  or  if  I  need  to  shield  the  hatchery  tank  from  light.  Or  if  I  can  keep  shrimp  in  the  hatchery  along  with  the  eggs.  Kindly  help  out  in  this  regard  Thx.
