 @Balashark  /  syed  /  anyone  using/planning  to  use  this  ,
 I  wanted  to  make  a  similar  one  but  have  a  couple  of  questions.
 1.  How  good  is  the  mechanical  filtration  from  this  ?  Asking  since  the  pump  is  located  before  the  filter  inlet  and  large  suspended  debris  (say  dead  leaves  from  plants  )  wouldn't  go  through  the  pump's  intake  /  impeller
 2.  Would  a  pump  fit  into  the  bottom  of  this  housing  ?  If  so  this  filter's  inlet  can  work  on  natural  siphon  and  outlet  can  be  powered  from  the  pump

 Thanks,
 Venkat

 But  what  has  all  this  got  to  do  with  ammonia  spike?  (Just  for  saying....since  your  urges  started  with  ammonia  spike)

 what  happened  to  the  biological  filteration?

 In  my  experience,  biological  filteration  should  be  stronger  than  any  other  "INSTALLED"  filteration.

 I  have  a  five  feet  tank  of  goldfishes.

 I  use  only  2  sponge  filters  and  weekly  50%  water  change.

 I  will  post  the  water  analysis  this  Saturday  for  you  all  to  suggest.....  so  as  to  why  all  these  expensive  filters  should  be  deployed.

 I  have  an  opinion  that  these  strong  mechanical  filters  are  really  functional  with  hard  waters  or  Brakish  waters.

 Do  correct  me  if  I  am  wrong  Very Happy

 @garothmaan,  I'm  interested  in  mechanical  filtration  since  I  would  like  the  planted  tank  to  have  crystal  clear  water

 they  way  i  did  it  was  i  used  dremel  to  cut  lil  less  1/2  inch  whole  and  then  threaded  it  using  a  any  1/2  piping  steel  nipple.  You  have  to  be  carefull  in  keeping  the  center  if  you  intend  to  to  use  the  internal  pipe.
