 Hi  guys,

I  am  rajesh  ,  i  need  to  know  if  you  guys  can  guide  me  as  to  whether  the  below  sunsun  hw  302  will  work,  the  plastic  is  very  cheap  and  every  time  i  use  the  quick  disconnect  to  take  it  out  the  plastic  break,  i  try  and  attach  with  araldite  glue  still  no  use  ,  there  is  some  leak  in  the  head  as  well  ....

Is   the  leak  due  to  bad  o  ring  or  due  to  below  breakage  ,  kindly  suggest  ...

I  am  very  disappointed  with  this  sunsun  ,  only  lasted  7  months,  i  am  using  aquaclear  70  HOB  for  my  29  gallon  right  now,  but  as  i   have  3  goldies  ,  i  am  trying  to  add  one  more  filter  ,  hoping  if  the  sunsun  can  work  ...

Currently  its  leaking  from  head  ...

 Thanks

 Rajesh

You  should  always  go  easy  while  handling  the  quick  connects,  whether  its  sunsun  or  eheim..
 they  are  very  fragile..
you  should  get  spares  for  sunsun,  will  let  you  know  the  dealer  for  this  ASAP..

@Nidhi  -  thanks  ,  the  problem  is  no  matter  how  careful  we  are  while  trying  to  move  the  pipes  and  checking  if  every  thing  fits  well  we  have  to  do  this  ...

However  the  problem  is  not  the  quick  connect  as  you  suggested  ,  the  problem  is  the  pipes  fitted  in  the  filter  head  ,  where  on  fits  the  quick  connect,   they  are  such  cheap  quality  that  they  break  each  time,  can   you  suggest  a  really  sturdy  filter  ?

Also  will  this  filter  work  with  those  small  pieces  broken  or  not  ,  if  not  then   i  will  not  order  the  O  ring  ...

 Thanks  again

 Rajesh

If  you  want  suggestions  for  a  reliable  filter  then  EHEIM  classic  600  or  commonly  called  as  2217  is  a  very  good  filter,  but  then  the  quick  disconnect  parts  are  fragile.  so  handle  that  part  carefully..

Super  Glue  and  baking  soda  will  work  to  fix  this.  Dismantle  the  head  and  then  use  this  combination  to  fix  it.  The  rubber  o-rings  are  1  rupee  each,  can  be  purchased  locally  from  any  industrial  rubber  shop.  problem  is  its  so  cheap  he  will  insist  you  buying  a  dozen.  the  larger  o-ring  can  be  bought  for  50-60  rupees.

They  are  not  so  fragile  also,  Mine  is  in  perfect  condition  even  after  5  years  of  continuous  usage.  Handle  with  care.  The  body  and  main  plastic  parts  are  not  much  weaker  than  other  filters,  only  the  intake,  spraybar  etc  are  a  bit  flimsy

@Preeths  -  thanks  ,  i  will  try  and  purchase  the  larger  o  ring  and  change  it  and  see  if  it  works  ,  can  you  kindly  suggest  whether  i  can  find  such  o  rings  at  hardware  or  automobile  parts  shop,  the  hardware  shop  people  were  not  aware  of  it  ...

@Mortis  ,  may  be  they  were  better  5  years  back,  i  am  using  an  USA  brand  aquaclear  HOB  and  believe  me  the  difference  in  build  quality  is  like  day  and  night  ,  USA  product  uses  such  good  quality  parts  as  compared  to  these  made  in  china  stuff  ...Thanks

You  will  not  find  it  in  hardware  shops.  you  will  find  it  in  rubber  product  shops.  There  are  Quite  a  few  in  Bangalore.  where  are  you  located?

Where  is  the  leak  from?  if  its  from  inside  the  pump  housing  head  then  replace  the  small  one  other  wise  replace  the  large  one.  Clean  the  area  and  apply  Vaseline  liberally  when  changing  the  o  ring  as  well  as  when  you  clean  the  filter
