Hello all,
I am not sure if fellow hobbyist are aware of the fact that the microworm culture can be stored in refrigerator... This is to preserve the starter culture just in case you loose the entire culture due to being out of station for long... I tried n it's working fine... Its been a week now... The growth is slow but the worms r alive and active... On a video in YouTube they say the culture exist for as long as 6 months and the worms stay alive at extreme cold temperatures.. Not sure about this... I am trying to know how long it exists... Try storing a little starter culture in fridge NOT IN FREEZER though and let me know your views...

Simplest method to create your own STARTER culture of microworm -
- Take a small raw potato and cut it into half.
- On the cut surface scoop out a small piece to create a small 'well'. Throw away the piece that is removed. Do this for both the halves.
- Bury the halves in your garden about 2-3inch deep with the cut surface downward. Cover with garden soil and place a tile or stone over it.
- Leave it untouched for 4-5 days.
- Later carefully remove the potato halves.
You will notice worms in the 'well' that your created. Use these for creating your own culture. |

I have seen this method online quite a few times but never tried.
Can you confirm if you tried it your self? If yes, then some pictures would be great. |

Those worms are long James.
So not sure if you can get microworms with the potato in the soil
Would love to see a set by step process
On avoiding fungus - make many pin sized holes at the top on the lid and cover with a muslin cloth and rubber band. This will keep it airy. Open it once in 2-3 days and air it and stir/shake the micro worms mix. |

Here's the link of youtube video that shows how to get own starter culture of microworm using potato

Pio, I just referred to this video for creating the culture. It's quite possible that worms have been mis-identified |
