I have got 4'x2x'1.5' fresh water setup. Stocked with two common gold fish ( size of each fish is roughly 6")
Running eheim 2217 and dophin1600 on the setup.
I purchased sun sun 101 wave maker to improve flow in the tank .I guess that water flow is too strong inside the tank as I could see air bubbles from bubbles being blown to one side. Also fish are drifting in the flow and fish are putting some effort to stay at one spot .can I use voltage regulator one which is used for ceiling fans on this pump to control flow rate of the pump

Trimming the impeller - Risks of making it imbalanced which would lead to rattling and eventual failure if not done carefully.
Limiting current - Adding rheostat - Risks of electrical failure due to use of improper components.
