Again hello!.
I browse this forum still and try to connect with new people (not a lot nowadays). But the new gen looks more for Instant result.. hence this hobby needs to evolve or evolved already to meet that demand. the proof is entire ADA setup sold as one piece off the shelf.. not anymore fun of having painstaking setup right from DIY tanks and learn yourself. was it not fun more..

Hi all!
I've got an idea which I feel might boost the community. However, it requires contribution of all of us and some sort of commitment from the mods too.
What if we start a facebook page for IAH. I am not sure if we already do have a facebook page since I use facebook strictly for work, but we can have a page and post pictures of the tanks and fishes of iah members. And we can post links to the threads of those tank builds on the posts. This way we'll be directing traffic to this forum.
Currently IAH has close to 400,000 posts on its forum. i think this a superb number and it would be a shame if this number didn't grow.
I invite other members to chip in with suggestions and comments on the idea.

Greetings to all.I am Alex from Coimbatore
When I have started the hobby before 3 months this forum helped me a lot(By reading old posts), even I have contacted one of the lovely member “Vivian Andrew” in my hometown through PM, He immediately gave his mobile no and helped me to build a DIY filter for my 2000 liter cement tank. Thanks a ton “Vivian Andrew”
What a lovely forum but now lost its charm mostly because of unanswered posts.W hen a new hobbies raising a query none of the seniors responding it, I feel this is a big threat to the forum .for example I have posted a query two weeks before but I got 0 response, so I have posted the same in another forum got immediate response.
I can bet this is the best forum in India with a lot of information.M y sincere recommendation to senior hobbies/moderators please respond to junior fellows queries. In my view, only this will help to keep the forum active or else people will move to other forums where they will get response.

Long live IAH
Hi alex! I agree unanswered posts are definitely a downer especially for new members. I made it a point to look up your post and answer it, hoping someone in the future might find it useful. How is the fish doing now?
I feel like a redesign too is in order. Currently the mid 2000s UI, which is a wholesome dose of nostalgia for the older members, is quite intimidating for new users.

Thanks, Ashwin, Fishes are doing well. IAH is a very good platform, when I am going through old posts I have understood IAH has lot of information other than various Indian forums. From my understanding, I think following points will really improve the popularity
1. Yes, Answering mostly all the posts (not to consider WTS, WTB)
2. Again YES the design is very boring. Time to redesign the site.
3. Image upload size limit. Please allow at least mobile image quality it’s annoying (Posts with images will surely get more attraction)
Thanks

Hey Alex, regarding point 3, its easy to circumvent that. Just use an image hosting site like imgur and just put links in your post. It helps the IAH servers too, since data is not being stored there.

I FULLY AGREE!
IAH is visited randomly by members.
After the whats app falling into line, the load on the IAH website has come down tremendously. There is very little moderation here now a days compared to when I enrolled as a member on IAH. Whats app has stolen the charm for the reason that posting pictures and videos is very simple.
I don't miss the meets on sundays as we have a bigger group in south mumbai.
The group which we had started as IAH Mumbai is now on whats app, posting 85% off topic discussions and XXX pictures .
I miss my beer parties and collection trip though but I have managed to find new spots for collection with other friends in the hobby.
I believe, very soon people will return to IAH website, those who are seriously following the hobby and are decently sharing their fish tanks pictures .
I recommend new hobbyist to check this website for fish keeping. Many of them have sought good knowledge from here and still discuss their own experiences. New ones come all the way from Vasai, Virar and Thane, Kalyan, Ambernath to contribute and share their interest.
I still share, lights, plants and fertilisers, as I am very close to the market here. We even group buy plants very often from sreepadma and aqua by nature.

Hi guys,
Believe it or not, I was wondering the same when I revisited iah this time after a very long gap. I am pretty much inactive in hobby, even on social media.
I was active in my student days, now I hardly find time to maintain a couple of running tanks. Hectic life as a practicing architect.
This was a great learning platform for me, I owe a big time to this forum for the things I have achieved in the hobby. I feel very sorry to see it this state now.
One major thing that contributed to decline of iah was IMO the groupism that started here which lead to flamewars and later a lot of regional forum sprouted(aquapetz, KAC, MAC, etc.). When all these people parted their ways they gradually stopped participating in discussions here.
I will try to frequent this forum and I really hope we can revive this platform again.

It seems that the admins have disabled their PMs or simply their inboxes are full, thats why no one is getting PMs delivered to them. I think I should post the message here in hopes that someone from the team reads and responds:
Hi,
If Im not wrong then you are one of the admins, correct? If yes, then first of all, thank you for keeping this amazing community running for all these years!
I understand its not easy maintaining the forum, and daily upkeep and moderation would become a chore after all these years. Especially when the forum is not as active as it used to be.
However, there is still a community, although fledgling, which is still enthusiastic, and is still very much into the hobby. And they will definitely be more participating if the forum is updated and moderated to meet todays day and age.
I humbly request you to appoint new moderators at the very least, in order to curb the menace of spammers. I have been reporting several posts but all of them are still up on the board, and the user posting them is still at large, nothing has been done about it and it is very discouraging to the new users. International message boards like pfk, plantedtank, nano-reef etc have only grown several folds over the years, IAH has the same potential, we only need to get our shit together
Regards,
Ashwin.

Hey Ashwin,
Thanks for your concern, I think the offending spammer has now been dealt with. The problem was he had posted on the Sponsored Forum and not everyone can modify/delete the posts in sponsored forums.
I think the other spam post (Kliaan) has now been deleted? If you see anything else, do PM me and I will do the needful.

Thanx for the update!
The spam posts are still up on the sponsored forum, the user might have been banned however. I would request you to please delete the posts as well. Also, are these sponsored forums still actively sponsored? If not then it makes sense to lock these up.

I think the forum itself has been locked. Only the sponsor of the particular forum has permission to edit/delete posts. I see that all sponsor forums have been locked as of now.
