The  fins  of  my  Goldfish  have  turned  black  at  the  edges.  Is  it  a  disease?  What's  the  treatment?

Its  in  4ft  tank  with  3  other  goldfishes  and  a  few  Danios.

All  the  fishes  are  active  and  feeding  well.

It  looks  like  natural  color  to  me.
Is  the  fin  rotting  or  breaking  off?  It  could  be  fungal  infection  -  fin  rot.
if  not  then  its  probably  just  the  actual  color  pattern  of  the  fish.

 Thank  you  Preetam.
It  certainly  didn't  have  this  colouration  earlier.

I  treated  the  goldfishes  in  a  separate  tank  for  Ich  with  Methylene  blue  and  when  I  found  it  wasn't  working,  I  treated  them  with  Paracidol  as  per  instructions  that  came  with  it.

 Out  of  four,  two  survived.

The  black  colouration  was  noticed  on  this  fish  after  the  treatment.

I  don't  think  there's  any  sign  of  rotting  or  fungus  yet.

 Guess  we'll  wait  and  see.

I  noticed  the  same  on  one  of  my  goldies  earlier  but  the  extent  was  very  mild  (a  single  stroke  of  pencil)  in  the  tail.
I  enquired  at  my  LFS  and  was  advised  this  could  be  due  to  ammonia  poisoning  and  also  that  it  indicates  the  fish  is  in  the  healing  stage.
I  was  asked  to  add  some  plants  to  control  ammonia  so  I  added  some  amazon  sword  and  anubian.
The  black  line  disappeared  eventually,  along  with  that  portion  of  the  tail.
Other  than  that  the  fish  seemed  fine.
Now  recently,  I  see  the  same  thing  appear  at  on  of  its  fins.

 Thank  you,  GhostFish.

Ammonia  spike  could  have  happened  in  the  hospital  rank  where  I  treated  the  goldies  with  Paracidol  over  a  7  day  dosing  schedule.

But  it's  a  mystery  why  only  one  fish  got  its  fins  bordered  with  black.   Smile
It's  now  back  in  the  main  tank.

Let's  wait  and  see  if  the  border  vanishes  eventually.

 Update:

The  black  border  on  the  tail  and  fins  appear  to  be  fading.   Thumb Up

How  are  the  tails  and  fins  looking  now?  Did  the  color  change  back  to  earlier?

Have  they  reduced  in  size  compared  to  earlier  or  the  same?

The  darkness  has  reduced  a  little  bit.  I  think  it'll  be  months  before  the  fins  lose  all  the  black  border,  if  indeed  it  does  happen.

But  in  the  meantime  I  was  quite  disturbed  to  see  lice  on  them.
One  fish  has  a  lice  on  the  inside  on  the  tailfin  and  the  other  had  it  on  the  pectoral  fin.

I  physically  removed  them  and  did  salt  water  dip  before  putting  the  fish  back  in  the  main  tank.

Will  have  to  think  of  other  treatment  methods  if  the  lice  reappear.
