There was an article written by Patrick de Rham about their fish collection trips to Western Ghats especially Etroplus canarensis (more details below). He along with his friend, the late Jean-Claude Nourissat found that the 3 Etroplus species were swimming together, with also cichlid like and Western Ghats endemic, Pristolepis marginata in the Kumaradhara River.
This definitely is a great resource for Indian cichlid enthusiasts like me. I am not able to find the article anywhere on the internet, so if someone could point me to the link to this article or willing to send it by email, I would be very grateful. Thank you!
Patrick had mentioned about his trip and article in Cichlidae forum. This was his post:
Dear Janthina,
I have some original information on the 3 Etroplus species, as with my friend, the late Jean-Claude Nourissat, we could observe and collect these fishes in various places during our January-February trip to South India. However E. canarensis was observed only at and near the type locality, at Uppnangudi in the Kumaradhara River, some 60 km upriver from Mangalore, South Karnataka. Actually at this place, Uppinangudi bridge, the 3 Etroplus species were swimming together , with also cichlid like and Western Ghats endemic, Pristolepis marginatus. By any chance, would you read some French? This because I have written an article in that language on our trip and collecting in South India. I could send you (or to other interested people) the text of the article by e-mail if you wish. Here are already the main scientific and aquarium references on E. canariensis:

Thanks for sharing but I have already read this article! Fantastic efforts and documentation by the IAH team which was previously missing for E. canarensis.
I am still interested to know if someone has the article by Patrick de Rham. The reason is I have never seen or heard of all 3 Indian Cichlids together in one spot along with Pristolepis marginata.
In some spots in Shambhavi river usually within 10 km from the Arabian sea coast, I have found E. suratensis and E. maculatus together but not the other two. In the western ghats underwater video by Sumer Tiwari (link below) probably 80 km from the Arabian sea coast, we can see E. canarensis, Pristolepis marginata and E. suratensis but not E. maculatus.
