"Crocodile hunter" Steve Irwin has been killed by a stingray while filming them near australian coast.
Mind you he is not a ordinary photographer, he has specialised in filming dangerous animals from crocodiles, komado dargons, pyhtons and what not.
The stingray barb had hit hs heart.
God rest his soul.

Thats really sad...
Just one question - 'stingrays' are found near the coasts or in deep water ? He couldn't even save himself from being attacked by a stingray...are they really so fast ??

Very sad. though he can be accused of overacting a bit in his shows, he was a committed environmentalist and i have been told that his Zoo is among the best. Hopefully the Zoo will be provided for in future without Steve.
pawanh75 - Sting ray's are extremley fast and remember the water he was in was pretty shallow |

Well
The flim he was shooting had to be stopped due to bad weather.
But he went in again to shoot some footage for his daughter.

Was reading the links put here in this thread. Somewhere it says that Stingrays are seldom fatal, and very rarely does one die because of their sting.
Day in and Day out we too work with our fish, and more than once handle them with no caution at all. Hope we all understand and appreciate the fact that fish too when they feel threatened can resort to measures - those we know of, and those that we dont anticipate.
