 Hi  all,

I  am  Madhu  from  Mangalore.  I  am  into  business  and  also  into  insurance  and  stock  broking.

I  have  2  aquariums.  In  one  i  have  2  Oscars  and  another  one  is  a  corner  diamond  shaped  aquarium  where  i  have  planted  plants.  Since  i  am  into  this  since  last  6  months  i  am  not  an  expert  .

Since  my  plants  werent  growing  well.  i  read  from  another  site  and  i  used  DIY  CO2  and  am  using  a  powerhead  to  diffuser.  i  am  not  sure  if  this  is  the  right  way  to  do  it  but  where  i  live  i  dont  get  all  the  stuff  required  to  maintain  a  palnted  tank.

Joining  this  site  i  hope  i  will  get  all  the  information  i  need  to  maintain  my  tanks  and  also  help  from  u  guys.

 thanks

 madhu

 Hi  Madhu,
Im  yet  another  Madhu  from  salem.    CO2  is  always  good  for  plants  but  plants  do  get  stressed  when  there's  trubulance  in  water  and  so  powerheads  are  not  advisiable  to  be  used  in  planted  tanks.

 Hi  Madhu  Kiran:

If  you  use  Power  Head,  then  use  a  rain  bar  connected  at  the  outlet.
A  rain  bar  is  a  simple  DIY  plastic  pipe.

Get  a  pvc  pipe  to  fit  the  outlet  of  the  power  head  and  drill  small  holes  all  along  the  pipe  at  equal  intervals.  On  the  other  end  of  the  pipe,  use  plug.

Now,  water  gushes  out  of  the  holes  and  doesn't  cause  too  much  turbulance
 That's  it!!
 Bye,

 Hi  All

I'm  Venkatesh  Duraiswamy,  working  as  a  Merchandise  Manger  in  knitwear  exports  out  of  Tirupur.  I'm  from  Chennai,  and  used  to  spend  a  lot  of  time  with  keeping  and  breeding  dogs.  At  TPR,  having  to  spend  a  lot  of  time  on  profession  not  been  able  to  get  into  Dogs.

I  started  into  Oscars  because  they  were  called  Dogs  of  aquarium.  I  Got  my  pair  of  oscar  last  year,  kept  them  in  a  15  gallon,  then  setup  a  100  gallon  for  them  which  broke  (when  it  was  under  cycling  -  even  before  the  fishes  were  let  in).  I  compromised  for  a  relativey  smaller  size  67  Gallons.  But  as  a  careless  hobbyist  in  not  keeping  the  hood  on,  i  lost  my  Oscars  jumping  out.

From  then  on  i  couldn't  really  get  hooked  to  any  other  oscar,  then  currently  turned  towards  Flowerhorn.  My  aim  right  now  is  only  to  see  a  good  quality  flowerhorn,  with  a  large  hump,  bright  and  intense  colors,  and  thick  body.

 Hi  Nag

As  far  as  i  know  now,  FHs  are  very  popular  in  Indonesia  and  Philipinnes.  Not  really  in  S'Pore.  It  is  estimated  that  there  are  around  a  million  Fhs  in  Indonesia  alone.Funny  kind  of  strains  these  guys  keep.  The  names  are  like

 King  of  Golden  Monkey
 Desert  Warrior
Red  Dragon,  Blue  Dragon,  rainbow  Dragon
Golden  Apple,  Green  Apple,  Golden  Green  Apple
 Super  Red  Shock
 Orient  Pearl
 Oriental  phoenix

BTW  how  can  Adip  help  me  in  getting  FH??  Does  he  breed  or  import  FHs?

My  oscars  used  to  react  with  jerk  in  the  nights.  When  housed  in  the  small  tank  i  used  to  hear  loud  thumps  on  the  hood.
