I  am  visiting  Calcutta  for  a  few  days  later  this  month.  On  my  way  back  a  friend  has  promised  to  give  me  a  few  native  fish  i  have  been  searching  for  a  long  time.  My  return  flight  is  on  Jet.

He  says  there  is  no  problem  taking  this  back  as  handbagage  or  even  pack  them  and  check  them  in  -  can  other  folks  share  their  expereinces  on  this?

Easiest  way  to  bring  would  be  to  check  them  in.  Have  a  carton  and  make  sure  they  are  packed  well,  strap  it  up  and  check  it  in  with  your  luggage.

 Hi  PC,

Both  hand  carrying  &  check  in  is  OK.  There  will  be  no  problems.  Fishes  will  not  be  harmed  by  scanning.

Inland  transit  of  fish  should  be  no  problem!  You  can  officially  tell  them  (if  you  book  it)  but  they  might  object  to  the  hand  baggage  due  to  the  water!

I  have  brought  fish  by  air  many  a  times  from  Kochi  and  Coimbatore.  In  my  experience,  they  are  never  allowed  in  hand  baggage  because  of  water.     Hence  i  always  pack  the  packets  in  a  carton  and  mention  "Live  fish  inside-  Handle  with  care"  and  check  them  in.

Never  had  any  problems  so  far.

 Rgds
