Dear Friends,
I have been into searchin for different varieties of plants for some time, spent 2 much money over it.. and have located some too. I feel that if we can have the information as to whoz got what and whether we can get from them during their trimmin of plants... it shall give access to many planto-manias to have a larger base of plants which they can look into instead of LFS/Imports...
Something like a "Consortium for Plants"...
If anyonez got any better suggestion so that this information can be better utilized for plant-keeps i would really appreciate it, and so would the forum members i hope.
to kick off herez the list that i have:
Plants that i can give currently during trimming:
The Following are Sourced from Singapore
Lugdwigia Glandulosa (Perinnis)
Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata (''Cuba'')
Rotala Indica (Rotala Roundifolia)
Christmas Moss
Lysimachia Nummularia
Eusteralis stellata
Hair Grass
Plants Sourced from Other Places
Ech.Osiris - Sourced from Rotterdam
Plants Sourced from India
Glossostigma
Riccia Flutians
Heteranthera Zosterfolia
Ammania Gracilis
Cryptocoryne Retrospiralis
Other Plants - Can be Given In Future:
Sourced from Singapore
Lobelia Cardialis
Eleocharis acicularis
Aponogeton boivinianus
Crinum calamistratum
Blyxa Japonica
Cyprus Helferi
Crypt. Crispulata Var Balansae
Cryptocoryne albida (Costata) -red/brown
Other Sources
Crypt. Aponogetifolia - UK
Bolbitis Heudelotii - UK
Micranthemum Umbroseum - UK
Cryptocoryne beckettii - India
I hope we can develop a huge database of plants that IAH members have and that shall enable the Planted Tank Keepers to have access to all kinds of plants with a press of a button.
If IAH Designers can do something that shall enable members to search for a plant, locate the Owner who can give it, it would make wonders.. .instead of members waiting to see a posting like "Plants for Sale " or "Plants for Xchange"....
Thanks IAH Again for all the wonderful help you have give me and other members.
Regards

I support you and sure all of us will be very happy to have a consortium like that. But I cant tell the names of all plants correctly as some of them look very similar. Anyway I hope someday Iwill be able to tell u the name .
for now can I have some of the following plants from you?
My tank size is 42x10x15 with a soil base of 1 " topped with builders sand and gravel of 3-5 mm size.
01.Riccia Flutians
02.Blyxa Japonica
03.Hair Grass
If yes what will be the price and how you will send them to me at Kolkata.
Regards

Hey Aditi,
Just thought of a model where people can have access to plant requirements thats all.
And, if u want hairgrass and blyxa... not sure whether will the withhold in 3-5mm gravel... itz too big a size. I can tell u for sure Hair grass wont stay put.
You have to reduce the size of the gravel to 2-3mm...
Take care

This is a good proposition. Many times we throw away cuttings which we can share with other members.
However one practical problem is to send plant outside town by courier. Recently I ordered some plants from Mumbai and was supposed to receive the same next day or a day more.
The plant came after seven days and what did you expect more than some perished stuff. Please note that this was sent thru' one of the most so called reputed Courier services. Even continuous follow up with this courier service did not get me any fast service.
Still, this is a welcome suggestion.
Aditi
I am having some hair grass which I can share, however you need to wait at least 15 to 20 days.
