 Hi  Nag,
Go  to  www.baazee.com  and  search  for  Nikon  Coolpix.  There  are  a  lot  of  guys  selling  them.  I  found  over  200  entries.  Search  for  a  reliable  guy  with  a  good  feedback.

Another  camera  that  you  can  look  at  is  the  Canon  A75  -  a  3.2  megapixel  camera.  One  advantage  with  this  camera  is  the  use  of  AA  batteries  which  are  easier  to  otain  and  cheaper  to  buy  than  proprietory  batteries  on  the  Coolpix.  I  think  you  can  take  approx  250  photos  with  one  charge  with  the  LCD  on.  You  can  read  reviews  at  www.dcresource.com  or  www.steves-digicams.com

Do  you  mean  re-chargable  batteries  ?  The  common  nicad  batteries  are  not    suitable  for  duty  in  digital  cameras.  Beware  that  even  alkaline  batteries  do  not  have  the  sustaining  power  required  by  digital  cameras.  I  have  had  2  or  3  sets  of  alkaline  batteries  go  dead  within  few  minutes  of  use.  I  was  not  able  to  shoot  even  2  or  3  pictures  with  each  set.  And  these  non  rechargable  batteries  are  very  expensive.

I  suggest  that  digital  camera  must  be  purchased  with  manufacturer's  re-chargable  battery.  In  my  experience,  it's  lot  cheaper  in  the  short  &  long  run.    Do  not  buy  if  camera  does  not  have  re-chargable  battery.  My  Sony  DSC  85  4.1  MegaPixel  camera  has  120  minutes  of  charge  &  I  was  able  to  shoot  more  than  300  pictures  per  charge,  with  60%  of  these  with  flash.

The  rechargeable  batteries  to  be  used    are  NiMH  AA  rechargeable  batteries  (2100  mAh  or  better)  will  give    you  lots  of  photographs  on  a  single  charge.

If  I  were  you,  I  would  count  out  the  external  flash.

And  adjustment  of  aperture,  I  dont  think  its  adjustable  in  my  Olympus.

If  you  are  looking  for  good  value  for  money,  I  too  would  suggest  a  Nikon  Coolpix.  My  bro's  got  one[unsure  of  the  model],  which  gives  very  good  results,  and  dint  cost  much.

Do  give  a  thought  to  the  idea  of  buying  it  in  Singapore  or  Thailand!

 Hi  Gopi:

 Thanks  for  the  'baazee'  thingy...
 It  definately  did  help  me!
There  are  a  couple  of  Coolpix  2200  for  sale  at  10K  and  the  seller  is  in  Bangalore...
Along  with  this  a  128MB  storage  card  is  also  up  for  the  grabs  @  1500/=

Coming  to  the  specs,  I  think  the  only  drawback  I'm  seeing  is,  its  a  2.1MP  camera...

Do  you  feel  I  should  go  in  for  this?  The  list  price  of  this  model  on  Nikon's  site  is  about  150USD  (Rs.7000)...

Should  I  pitch  in  for  this?
 Guys  help  me  out...
 The  offer  expires  today!!

 Thanks  to  you  all...  Smile

 Hi  Nag,
Dont  think  2  MP  would  be  a  big  problem.    because  one  of  my  friend's  got  it  and  the  pics  are  fairly  clear.    He's  got  a  Kodak  EasyShare  2.0  MP  camera  and  its  fine.

 Hi  Nag,

For  web  application  &  viewing  on  monitor,  I  use  very  low  resolution  (1280  x  960),  which  has  a  file  size  about  320  kb  in  jpeg  mode.  At  higher  resolutions,  the  picture  size  is  huge.  You  will  need  such  high  resolutions  only  when  you  want  to  print  the  pictures.

 Dear  Nag

There  is  a  shop  called  Chemm  in  Gem  Plaza  on  Infantry  Road,  Bangalore,  saw  in  an  ad  that  this  guy  is  an  authorized  dealer.

Armed  with  the  kind  of  info  you  have  currently,  I  am  sure  this  guy  would  be  extremely  impressed  once  you  enquire  with  him.  So  go  ahead,  what  are  you  waiting  for???

 Happy  Buying.

 Regards
 Sriram

 Thanks  Ravi:

Ok.  So  what  I  understand  is:
If  I'll  be  using  the  camera  for  Monitor/Web,  I  can  even  do  with  a  1MP...
I'd  anyway  intend  to  shoot  with  1200x800  resolution...

Which  again  means  I  can  even  buy  other  brands  like  Dlink/Samsung/Konica/Kodak...
Which  if  I  do  so,  I  may  loose  out  on  features...
But,  I  think  it  will  fit  my  use  as  well  as  pocket...  Very Happy

Thanks  once  again  to  all  contributors...
