 Hi  Trevor,
There  is  a  belief  /  Myth  that  many  including  locals   still  believe  in,  My  mom  told  me  about  this.

That  no  one  picks  up  any  thing  from  that  river,  And  could  bring  in  ill  luck  if  any  thing  is  picked  from  that  river  not  even  a  pebble  i  suppose  due  that  reason  Carnesis  were  safe  in  there....

I've  also  heard  of  this  belief/Myth  among  locals.
A  lot  of  people  who  came  from  Kerala  to  build  the  rail  link  stayed  back  in  this  untouched  virgin  territory  and  probably  diluted  this  belief/myth.
It  is  also  a  well  known  "King  Cobra  territory"  and  if  you  get  bitten  there  is  nothing  or  no  one  to  save  you.
   Sad  R.I.P

Good!  Growth  rate  is  pretty  slower  as  compared  to  E.  maculatus.

Looks  like  your  Canarensis  are  in  a  breeding  spree  :-).  In  the  wild  are  they  seasonal  breeders  or  do  they  breed  all  year  round?

Hope  you  are  able  to  devote  some  time  for  your  fresh  water  fishes  too,  if  not   there  will  be  enough  people  waiting  to  accept  your  throwaways  :-)

 Regards
 Bala

Neither  the  saltwater  nor  the  freshwater  is  getting  much  attention  these  days,  work  is  keeping  me  at  office.
Probably  after  2  months  you  can  expect  fry  from  some  new  species.
They  are  seasonal  in  the  wild  but  they  don't  seem  to  be  so  with  me.

Nope.  Mine  have  stopped  breeding  after  my  breeding  group  was  almost  completely  wiped  out  due  to  a  disease  outbreak.
