Thanks  for  the  link  arnaboy.Nice  one!  Seems  Zeolite  can  be  recharged  by  dipping  it  in  concentrated  salt  solutions   Thumbs Up

Zeolite  is  needed  only  when  Chloramine  is  detected  in  tap  waters  and  broken  down  into  ammonia  using  products  like  hypo/stress  coat  etc..  Is  there  any  simple  DIY  tests  to  detect  chloramine  in  waters?

 cheers
 Babu

I  dont  think  they  use  chloramine  in  Cauvery  water  or  as  a  matter  of  fact  anywhere  in  india..

Just  in  case  anyone  is  interested,  the  active  ingredient  in  Amquel  is  hydroxymethanesulfonate...

Really,  why  i  said  that  was  I  could  not  find  any  reliable  source  on  the  net  which  confirms  the  use  of  chloramine  for  water  treatment  in  Bangalore  or  for  that  matter  anywhere  in  india..  Instead  what  i  found  was  the  use  of  chlorine  in  bellandur  lake  and  others..

 Buddy,
You  are  looking  at  news  which  is  pretty  old.
There  are  tests  conducted  by  many  and  have  proffs  of  chloramine  being  added.

I  guess  the  best  way  to  use  the  Zeolite  would  be  to  fill  in  a  net  or  cloth  bag  and  place  it  in  the  bucket  when  we  age  the  water  over  night  before  water  change  which  I'm  sure  most  of  us  do.

 Hi  Raghu,
Will  you  please  tell  me  where  I  can  find  Zeolite  in  Bangalore  (  JP  Nagar,  BTM,  Hosur  road  areas).Today  I  tested  the  water  using  Nessler's  reagent,  the  result  showed  faint  traces  of  yellowishness. Also  the  nessler's  reagent  bottle  is  not  carrying  any  hazardous  warning  on  the  label. Is  it  safe  to  use  it.Kindly  fill  me  in  please.

 Regards
   Smile

if  the  reagent  turned  the  water  yellowish  u  have  very  little  amount  of  ammonia  in  your  tank!  You  do  not  test  the  water  in  your  tank  by  putting  the  reagent  in  the  tank,  instead  take  out  some  of  the  tank  water  and  check  in  a  glass  or  clear  plastic  container.  Smile
