 Madan,
Sorry  for  the  off  topic  discussion,
But  then  are  we  suspecting  the  mortality  rate  of  G  rasboro's  earlier  got  was  due  to  some  internal  worms  or  is  it  a  confirmed  reason  for  which  they  died  so  rapidly.

If  its  due  to  internal  worms,  Can  you  please  let  us  know  the  symptoms  with  which  these  died  and  hence  you  suspected  the  reason...
This  should  help  us  be  aware  of  the  reason  on  hand.

 hi  Madan,
 Thanks  for  sharing  this  info..
Good  to  hear  that  flubenol  is  so  effective  and  cheaper  too..
Will  order  some  for  me  too..

Secondly  i  would  like  to  say  i  have  used  albendazole  successfully  (without  any  mortality)  on  my  discus  and  this  was  3  years  ago  i  think..
I  had  used  the  syrup  form  (PD)  and  the  dosage  was  1  ml(cant  remember  the  conc  of  albendazole  in  the  syrup)for  a  2"  square  cube  of  BHM.(not  measured  in  gms.)
 no  dosing  in  the  water..

So  i  think  can  also  be  a  very  mild  dose  and  not  at  all  effective  on  worms  or  what  it  did  to  the  worms  dont  know   but  the  discus  survived  ..and  were  healthy   till  i  gave  them  away..

and  till  date  i  am  using  prazi  in  water  and  feed  for  tape  worm  eradication.but  prazi  is  an  expensive  affair..now  will  try  flubenol..

About  mortality  rate  in  Galaxy  rasboras  out  of  the  300  Pcs  that  i  got  around  200  odd  were  with  me  for  a  month  and  the  rest  100  shipped  within  a  week..i  have  not  faced  even  a  single  mortality  till  date...I  still  have  12  pcs  with  me..
(WC  30%  was  on  a  daily  basis..tank  mates  were  cherry  shrimps.Newly  hatched  BBS/flakes/Tetra  bits  powdered  were  fed  on  a  regular  basis.)

1  ml  albendazole  pediatric  syrup  in  a  2  inch  cube  of  BHM  is  adequate  dosing.

 HI  all.
Got  a  bottle  of  albenol-25  yesterday  and  dosed  it  to  a  2  ft  hospital  tank  @  doseage  of  5ml  on  2  of   rainbow's  today  morning.  Note  that  Albenol25  seem  to  be  soluble  in  water  too.  Could  not  see  a  precipitate.  Had  fed  these  guys  live  worms  around  a  day  back.  I  could  see  a   white  to  grey  thread  like  stuff  comming  out  in  an  hour  of  dosing  from  them  not  sure  what  these  are.  I  had  to  rush  to  the  office  so  did  not  get  a  chance  to  look  at  them.  Also  i  am  not  sure  if  they  phoo  in  the  morning.   But  the  fishes  were  happy  will  keep  posting  my  updates.

Albendazole  is  not  much  soluble.  It  is  micronized  so  as  improve  drug  delivery  to  the  worm.

Did  you  note  that  Mitul  had  given  his  discus  albendazole  orally,  not  directly  to  the  water  column?

 Deepesh,
I  got  Albenol-25  its  in  liquid  form.  Since  i  have  already  tried  it  out  adding  it  to  water  column,  I  will  leave  it  like  that  till  the  end  of  the  day  and  will  transfer  it  to  main  tank.

Note  that  when  i  was  adding  the  soln  the  fishes  came  near  the  soln,  May  be  they  a  gulped  in  a  little  of  this  soln.  or  may  be  not.....

Just  confirmed  it  with  my  parents,  The  fishes  are  happy  till  now.

Do  keep  updating.  This  sort  of  experience  helps  a  lot  and  builds  up  knowledge  about  how  to  go  about  treating  fish.

 Hi  Mitul,
Albenol-25  is  a  2.5%  suspension.  I  just  poured  less  than  5ml  of  that  into  a  plastic  cup  tried  dissolving  then  not  sure  how  much  really  did.  Then  just  added  that  to  the  water  coulmn.  Had  a  aeriator  running.

I  transfred  the  2  to  the  main  tank  on  friday  itself  at  around  6:30PM.  Till  now  the  fishes  are  happy.

Only  thing  was  that  they  phooed  a  lot  in  the  tank  and  the  phoo  was  white  to  grey  in  colour.

Fishes  took  the  food  as  usual  and  are  happy  till  now.

 Sorry  to  chip  in  late
I  have  said  this  earlier  and  am  saying  it  again  I  have  had  a  horrible  experience  with  albendazole  and  lost  a  whole  batch  of  fish  to  it  -  I  may  have  goofed  up  somewhere  so  would  like  to  bring  this  to  the  notice  of  a  newbie  to  administer  it  with  caution  (if  at  all  you  have  to)  lets  not  do  something  which  has  a  potentially  hazardous  outcome  -  remember  I  did  not  loose  just  discus  but,  also  goldfish  and  koi  who  are  supposed  to  be  hardier  compared  to  discus.
WRT  the  Flubenol  15  I  am  yet  to  come  across  this  medication  so  can't  comment  on  the  same.  Madan,  any  idea  where  I  can  sorce  it  from?

Like  in  Madan's  earlier  post  on  this  thread  and  the  link  within,  ordered  the  med  around  10  days  back  and  received  it  through  royal  mail  today.

 The  procurement  was  very  convienient.
Shall  soon  share  the  medication  results  as  well.

 My  last  update:

It's  about  three  weeks  since  the  first  deworming,  I  added  a  second  dose  to  my  400  liter  rainbow  tank.

The  fish  began  pooping  in  20  minutes,  no  stringy,  white  feces  this  time  around.

Looks  like  the  fish  and  tank  are  done  with  deworming.

From  now  on  deworm  the  fish  on  arrival  in  a  bucket,  no  more  putting  them  into  a  tank.  It's  too  expensive  to  treat  fish  in  the  display  tank.

As  for  snails,  they  have  all  but  disappeared  from  my  tanks,  except  for  the  juveniles  I  don't  see  any  adult  snails  in  my  tank.  So  it  does  work  on  snails  with  a  time  delay.
