Have  you  ever  seen  Amano  use  a  Piranha  in  his  tanks??  So  why  do  you  want  to  name  it  an  Amano  tank?

If  successful  (I  am  not  sure),  Call  it  a  Angad  tank  !

AMANO  setup?  Make  yourself  clear,  because  Amano  might  have  a  lot  of  setups!  And  where  I  live  if  you  said  about  someone's  setup,  it  actually  refers  to  his  concubine.   ROFL   And  I  dont  know  why  you  would  want  to  place  a  piranha  on  Amano's  "setup"!!!!

If  you  are  referring  to  keeping  Piranhas  in  a  lpanted  setup,  its  surely  possible.  I  have  seen  Adip  keeping  his  piranhas,  interestingly  alongwith  some  guppies,  in  his  fully  planted  setup.

Anyways,  I  was  there  for  a  day,  and  happened  to  se  it.  You  will  have  to  ask  him  on  what  problems[if  any]  he  faced  with  the  red  bellies  in  his  planted  setup!

I  am  assuming  you  are  referring  to  Amano  tanks  where  almost  85%  of  the  plants  used  are  carpet  plants  (  Unsure  )  just  covering  the  bottom  layer  of  the  tank  with  rocks  being  aquascaped.  Does  sound  like  a  good  idea.

I  have  tried  RBPS  with  amazon  swords  plants  and  vals  and  they  do  pretty  well  in  them....  Thumb Up

 Cheers
 Ravi

yes  it  would  get  a  lot  of  room..  but  what  will  it  do  to  your  plants  when  you  feed  it  beefheart  or  goatheart?  Or  market  prawn,  or  feeder  fish?  Have  you  given  a  thought  to  that?

I  think  what  Angad  ment  was  RBPs  in  a  planted  setup.
I  do  not  see  a  problem  with  that,
Only  pls  keep  in  mind  like  Amod  mentioned  it  will  be  a  pain  to  clean  the  tank  if  you  feed  your  fish  any  kind  of  meat  also  you  have  a  good  chance  of  an  ammonia  spike.
One  thing  you  could  do  is  have  a  bare  bottom  (  no  substrate  of  any  kind)  tank  with  a  drift  wood  setup  and  you  could  grow  anubias,  ferns,  moss  etc  on  the  wood.
This  will  give  a  planted  tank  feel  and  will  be  far  easier  to  clean  using  a  siphon
pipe,  compared  too  a  substrate  tank.

You  could  also  look  at  a  biotope  to  suit  their  natural  environment.

 Hope  the  suggestions  help.

 Rgds

Amod  the  BHM  piece  never  reaches  the  bottom,  and  most  of  the  time  it  barely  touches  the  water  surface   Chuckle  ...

Planted  i  know,  as  iv  seen  Adip  and  Vinayz  planted  tank  with  a  RBP...  the  basic  idea  was  giving  the  piranha  a  lot  of  swimming  space  by  using  a  carpet  out  of  riccia  or  Utricularia  graminifolia  and  a  few  rock  pieces  or  driftwood...

I've  seen  RBP's  in  planted  tanks..  and  i  think  they  look  stunning  in  planted  tanks..
