Found  a  few  specimens  of  Malabar  Sunfish  (Pristolepis  malabaricus)  in  Aqua  Show  2004.    To  my  knowledge  they  are  very  close  relatives  to  cichlids  belonging  to  the  family  Nandidae  and  this  species  is  endemic  to  Kerala  waters.
Pros  like  Beta,  Madan,  Venket,  Nag  and  others  could  benefit  us  by  throwing  more  light  on  it!  Very Happy

 Hi  Madhu,
Think  they  are  found  in  the  western  ghats.  I  kept  mine  with  Orange  Chromides.  Its  a  very  nice  fish  which  is  mildly  aggressive.  They  eat  both  live  and  prepared  foods.
They  are  not  too  colourfull  but  still  a  delightful  fish.

 That  would  be  true  Beta.
I've  had  a  biotope  tank  housing  orange  chromides  with  demisoniis  and  falamentosus.    Shortly  looking  forward  to  acquire  Etroplus  canarensis.    Where  could  i  get  one.
I  think  it  would  be  of  greater  benefit  if  we  get  hooked  up  to  native  species  than  jumping  altogether  into  CA  and  SA  species.

 Hi  Mick,
The  ones  I  had,  didn't  have  any  distinct  red  finnage.   The  only  Pristolepis  sp.  native  to  India  is  P.malabaricus  a.k.a  P.marginata.
