Amitava  that  is  not  my  DIY  project.

That's  a  photo  of  a  DIY  canister  filter  on  sale  I  took  at  Chatuchak  Market,  Bangkok.

Interested  DIY'ers  will  get  a  some  idea  seeing  this.

 well...  tested  it...  worked  out...

the  filter  is  actually  a  2  litre  bottle  filled  with  pebbles,  sand,  and  cotton  for  filter  media.  inflow  from  a  1000  ltr.  powerhead  and  outflow  through  a  pipe..  by  modifying  the  amount  of  outflow,  i  was  able  to  stabilize  the  water  level  in  the  bottle.    the  problem  with  this  is  quite  simply  put,  the  filter  media  cannot  be  placed  anywhere  except  above  the  tank.

Wow,  that's  an  interesting  DIY.  Very  simple  -  cost  efective  and  space  for  lots  of  media.  Madan  did  yo  by  the  way  see  inside  if  there  were  separators  fro  different  media  or  was  it  one  large  chamber.

I  think  we  can  certainly  keep  drip  tray  on  top  and  two  to  three  layers  of  filter  media.  But  the  seperator  to  fit  in  snuggly  and  easily  detachable  for  cleaning  is  the  key.

Do  you  have  any  other  photos  of  your  fish  related  Travels  Madan.
