The  striped  gobies  are  extremely  agressive,  hence  i  have  provided  a  large  driftwood  with  many  hiding  places  for  them,  but  still  there  is  some  fin  shredding  occasionally.  Also  can  anyone  recommend  what  food  i  can  feed  them?  the  common  ones  were  feeding  on  algae  in  the  rocks,  but  if  i  give  them  boiled  cabbage,  they  dont  touch  it.  but  the  striped  ones  just  devour  the  cabbage.  Right  now  i  am  feeding  them  spirulina  flakes,  dried  tubiflex,  micro  pellets,  boiled  cabbage.  Am  i  doing  good?  anything  i  can  add?

No  major  issues  with  them  as  long  as  they  are  eating  well.   Thumb Up

The  dominant  ones  are  males.  Keep  more  females  to  lessen  the  aggression.

So  what  i  have  is  a  Mugilogobius   tigrinus  then,  seems  they  have  not  been  known  from  india  before  according  to  fishbase.  Here  is  a  fishbase  link  for  you  guys.

 Hey  Ram,
I  can't  tell  a  goby  from  a  dhobi!  It  was  a  friend  who  gave  me  the  ID.

It  is  good  that  your  friend  tipped  us  off.  I  am  really  happy  to  know  the  name  of  the  goby  that  i  have.  Seems  that  this  goby  is  rare.  Â Also  its  good  that  everyone  can  get  to  see  a  good  picture  of  the  fish.

ps:  Chuckle    I'm  sure  you  can  tell  a  donkey  from  a  dummy  like  me    Chuckle

I  haven't  seen  these  either  till  date.  Hence  no  clue  of  the  ID..  Smile

The  difference  in  shades  is  due  to  the  geographic  variance.  Raise  them  healthy  and  they  should  breed  by  themselves.  You  would  be  unlucky  like  me  without  the  rotifer  supplies.

Shall  we  name  your  variant  Mugilogobius  tigrinus  Ramkumar.  Take  some  good  professional  photographs  of  the  little  cuties.  And  keep  the  location  under  wraps  for  some  time.  All  the  best  to  you  on  the  road  to  fame.  Chuckle
