 Dear  Tirthankar
Is  it  a  type  of  Java  moss  or  anything  else?
 Regards
 Kaushik

 @Koushik  Da,

It  is  another  Aquatic  Moss.  But  not  Java  moss.  Take  a  look  at  the  below  link,

Fissiden  Fontanus  is  the  moss  in  the  bottom  right  hand  corner  of  the  picture.
It  is  also  growing  a  little  algae.

Only  a  very  good  friend  will  be  willing  to  give  it  to  you  for  free.
If  you  want  to  buy  it  you  will  have  to  pay  in  four  figures  for  a  2inch  X  2inch  packet.  Thumb Up

 Hi  Tirthankar,

Few  months  ago  I'd  given  some  to  Atanu  &  Surya  &  it  cost  a  'just'  over  "2-digit  figure".  Size  -  1.5"x1.5"

The  Fissiden  in  my  aquarium  was  ripped  apart  in  a  week  by  Tropehous  &  Tetra's  alike.  I'm  going  ask  a  strand  or  two  from  one  of  them  that  is  when  I  get  a  new  Aquarium  for  Fissiden  or  give  the  fishes  a  new  home.

Look  around  &  you  should  find  some  cheap  source.

Lottery  is  not  mandatory  pradeep   Smile

This  is  interesting.  The  stuff  was  like  gold  a  year  or  so  ago.  I  guess  it  must  be  going  through   the  network  now.

Not  really,  this  was  given  out  in  June  Last  year  Smile.

IMO,  only  Madan  had  it  back  then  besides  being  available  for  sale.

@Deepak:  Will  be  Waiting  for  them  to  grow  in  your  tank.  Thanks  for  your  update.

I  was  just  going  through  the  pictures  and  Topics  related  to  Fissiden  Fontanus  fro  last  2-3  days  and  suddenly  saw  Atanu  used  it  in  his  tank.  Thatz  why  I  was  looking  for  some  Indian  contacts.  But  never  thought,  it's  gonna  be  so  costly!

 Tirthankar,

I  have  some  Fissidens  floating  around  my  tank  somewhere,  I  abused  it  for  3  months  by  leaving  it  around  in  a  tiny  packet  and  it  survived.  I  see  it  around  every  now  and  then  when  I  do  a  water  change.  If  it  has  grown  enough  in  the  next  couple  of  months,  I'd  be  more  than  happy  to  send  you  some  for  FREE....

Have  them  also  in  my  Tank  and  not  an  easy  moss  to  Grow.....Especially  expensive  in  India

Has  not  taken  off  like  my  other  moss  (Spiky,Taiwan,Xmas,Flame,Pelia,Java, etc). But  am  sure  will  have  some  to  spare  quite  soon  as  well...
