 Hi  Everybody,

Hear  is  a  link  to  Fluorescent  Light  Comparison
 http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/2637/

But  for  your  own  understanding,  the  comparision  of  Natural  Light  To  Different  Artificial  Light  Source  Please  See  these  images  below.

 Source  Courtesy  Manahttan  Village  Academy.
 http://www.scientifex.com/specroom.htm

 http://www.geocities.com/joyban70/images/lightcomp.jpg

Above  link  has  been  edited  -

As  you  would  notice  the  nearest  to  Sunlight  is  incandescent  light  bulb
and  the  plants  will  grow  best  under  these  lights,  but  you  should  have  motorised  fans  under  the  hood  to  disperse  off  the  heat  by  these  lights.

Shocked    Shocked    Shocked    That  is  some  piece  of  information!  Can  someone  please  tell  me  something  more  about  these  fans?  Have  any  of  you  installed  one  of  those  in  your  tanks?

Incandescent  bulbs  are  terribly  inefficient  though,  in  terms  of  energy  consumed  vs  light  output.

A  combination  of  fluorescent  tubes  can  be  used  to  approximate  sunlight,  which  is  what  most  of  us  do.

In  addition,  plants  do  not  need  all  the  wavelengths  in  the  solar  spectrum,  mainly  those  near  the  blue  wavelengths

Joyban  where  did  you  get  these  images  from?

If  they  are  not  yours,  please  don  not  upload  them  on  IAH  galleries.  Just  a  link  to  the  web  page  with  these  images  is  sufficient.

We  do  not  use  other  people's  images  on  this  website  even  if  they  have  not  posted  a  copyright  on  the  image.

Please  confirm  that  these  images  are  owned  by  you  or  else  delete  them  immediately.

 Sorry,  I  checked  in  later-

You  have  cross  linked  these  images  from  the  geocities.com  website,
please  do  not  do  that,  these  images  are  still  owned  by  the  author  of  that  website,  and  he  likes  people  to  visit  his  website  as  much  as  we  do.

Sorry  again  -  the  website  seems  to  be  owned  by  you.

But  do  you  own  these  images?????.

 Did  you  photograph  them?

In  case  you  did  it,  well,  terrific.
In  case  you  did  not  please  delete  them.

 Hi  Madan

Just  to  Clarify  the  images  were  not  taken  by  me  ,  they  are  from  the  following  source.
http://www.scientifex.com/specroom.htm  which  is  Manahttan  Village  Academy  (School)

But  I  have  combined  these  images  in  photo-shop  and  the  presented  to  everybody  in  a  different  format  so  that  it  is  easy  for  everybody  to  compare  the  light  source  and  see  which  light  source  is  nearest  to  natural  sunlight.

I  was  not  trying  to  infringe  on  someone's  work  but  trying  to  present  it  differently  to  the  home  aquarium  users  for  them  to  view  it  and  understand  it.

I  will  leave  it  up  to  all  IAH  members  to  decide  if  it  would  be  appropriate  to  delete  this  or  continue  with  it....

Certainly  will  add  source  courtesy  Manahttan  Village  Academy.

 Regards

 Sujoy

 Joyban,

The  source  should  have  been  added  in  the  first  place  and  better  would  have  been  permission  from  the  original  owners.

You'll  find  it  very  easy  to  get  permission  from  owners.

I  have  found  no  one  refusing  use  of  their  material  on  hobbyist  websites.
I  have  got  permission  to  print  entire  articles  with  photographs  from  such  entities  as  Dupla,  Germany  and  Tropica  Aquarium  Plants,  Denmark  to  reprint  their  articles  in  one  of  the  hobbyist  magazines  in  India.  I  just  had  to  ask  before.
More  recently  I  received  permission  to  screen  2  videos  at  Aquarium  Club  Gatherings.  All  I  did  was  ask.

People  get  pissed  off  when  they  discover  it  on  their  own  that  their  stuff  has  been  used  without  permission.  The  flak  is  then  faced  by  the  Administrators  of  IAH.

 Hi  Jenny

Well  these  fans  will  be  like  the  ones  which  you  have  on  your  computers  cpu  or  the  fans  for  the  SMPS  in  your  computers  power  unit.

You  could  get  them  from  any  computer  hardware  shop,  they  will  run  on  5V  DC  ,  please  check  this  website  ...http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/appliance/appliance_fans_home.htm

You  could  put  them  on  your  tank  hood  and  have  a  ac  to  DC  adpt.  with  5  Volts  rating  to  run  them..

240  volt  AC  console  cooling  fans  are  also  available.  Try  to  buy  the  unit  with  bearings  instead  of  bush.
