 Hi  Shameek

I  am  using  36w  PLL...  You  can  use  the  same..

All  the  plants  which  you  have  mentioned  are  low  light,  for  a  start  i  think  just  one  PLL  would  be  enough...

Just  wait  for  some  expert  to  correct  me  If  i  am  wrong..

 Cheers
 Harpreet.

Thanks  to  both  of  you  Nitin   and  Harpreet  for  reply
I  think  70  watt  MH  may  be  the  better  option  for  me  Smile
For  Java  Moss  and  Java  Fern  what  should  be  the  wattage  required  in  that  cube?

Try  and  move  your  tank  to  a  place  where  you  dont  have  sunlight  entering  your  tank.  Or  use  something  to  cover  that  area,  so  you  can  block  the  sun's  rays.

Sunlight  is  very  potent,  and  can  be  a  reason  for  a  lot  of  algae.  If  you  are  experienced  in  handling  planted  tanks  under  sunlight,  its  a  different  issue.

Jeeyejee,  please  start  your  own  thread,  and  give  all  details  like  size  of  tank,  and  filtration  and  other  details,  and  you  will  get  help.  Please  dont  hijack  someones  thread.

@Pradeep,   I  know  that  Java  moss  and  fern  are  low  light  plants.
I  want  to  know  the  wattage  of  light  best  for  these  plants.
as  i  am  starting  with  amazon  sword,  vals,  the  70  wattt  is  ok  ,i  think  so.If  i  am  wrong  experts  please  correct  me.I  will  go  for  moss  and  ferns  later.

 @  Nitin
 Thanks  for  your  suggestion

70W  for  a  25  gallon  tank  is  almost  3  WPG.
Amazons,  swords  ,  java  moss  and  fern  will  all  do  well  with  1.5WPG.
If  you  are  going  in  for  higher  lighting,  make  sure  to  get  some  CO2  pumped  into  the  tank.

 @Pradeep
then  light  required  is  around  37watt
what  you  suggest....PLL  or  MH?  Is  MH  comes  with  that  wattage?
I  thought  that  with  70  watt   i  would  set  2  bottles  of  DIY  CO2.
 Will  1  bottle  DIY  CO2  work  if  i  use  37  watt  ?

A  36W  PLL  will  suit  you  just  fine,  Shameek.  As  long  as  your  plants  are  low-light  requiring.  Even  DIY  CO2  is  fine  although  a  messy  one.

A  cost  of  a  36W  PLL  and  an  electronic  ballast  is  about  20%  that  of  a  70W  MH.  Logically  speaking,  Low-light  tanks  are  to  be  low-budget  as  well.

Shameek  instead  of  your  exising  plants  list,  how  about  trying  some  stem  plants  this  time?  It  will  help  you  to  move  one  step  ahead  in  planted  tank.  Smile
