 Hi,

WIth  a  wedding  in  the  family, the  project  took  a  backseat  in  the  later  half  of  August
The  tank  finally  arrived  on  03rd  September.Canopy  wiring  is  still  incomplete.100kgs  of  river  sand  is  sieved  and  ready.  Awaiting  the  laterite.  It  seems  like  the  tank  should  be  running  with  all  the  equipment  in  the  1st  week  of  October.Spent  the  day  working  on  the  wiring

Will  the  braces  all  around  cause  difficulties  in  getting  the  filter  tubing  into  the  tank?

 Thanks  Bhushan,
Planning  to  scape  it  by  mid  October.

 Hi  Unni,
I  have  the  same  hunch.  However  I  feel  that  a  long  piping  should  not  cause  any  hindrance.

 Cheers!

Well..my  tanks  have  braces  too  and  they  are  real  pain.

 Few  problems  I  faced

 1)  The  Eheim  filter  U  shaped  inlet  pipe  doesnt  fit  over  the  tank  wall  due  to  the  braces.
I  asked  for  suggestions  here  and  was  suggested  to  cut  pipe  right  in  the  middle  of  the  U.  It  fits  well  now.

 2)  If  you  are  going  to  use  commercial  internal  co2  reactor,  the  reactor  will  have  a  provision  at  the  top  for  co2  inlet.  You  will  have  little  trouble  making  the  relatively  hard  PU  tube  squeeze  and  bend  through  the  small  hole  provided  in  the  corner  of  the  braces(  if  they  are  provided).

3)I  used  to  have  a  Resun  internal  power  filter  for  water  circulation  .  It  has  5  small  suction  cups  and  it  was  so  difficult  to  remove  the  filter  from  the  tank.  If  there  were  no  braces,  I  could  have  easily  slid  it  up  and  out  of  the  tank.  but  because  of  the  braces,  I  had  to  actually  pull  it  out  and  it  was  pain.  Many  a  times  the  filter  would  come  out  and  the  cups  would  remain  stuck  to  the  tank  wall  Smile
This  is  not  really  an  issue  from  the  point  of  inconvenience.

 Looking  forward  to  more   updates.

 Hi,

I  bought  100kgs  of  river  sand.  First  sieved  it  through  a  3mm  sieve  and  then  through  a  1mm  sieve.  Now  I  have  2  buckets  of  (A)1mm  to  3mm  grain  size  and  2  buckets  of  (B)<  1mm  grain  size.  i.e  fine  sand.  Had  not  expected  fine  sand  in  such  a  large  quantity.  However  would  now  want  to  put  it  in  use.

I  had  initially  planned  1inch  laterite  base  of  1mm  to  3mm  grain  size.  2  inches  of  the  (A)  and  top  it  with  the  (B).
However  I  think  the  fine  sand  will  settle  down  over  time,  exposing  the  (A).  Which  means  my  sieving  efforts  go  waste

Another  option  is  to  make  a  scape  where  the  (A)  is  towards  the  back  of  the  tank  and  (B)  in  the  front  4  inches

Would  appreciate  ideas  on  how  to  set  up.

 River  Sand

 (A)  1mm  to  3mm  Grain

 (B)  <1mm  Grain

 Cheers!!

Neelesh.....  I  did  the  same  thing.

I  have  used  3-4mm  Gravels  just  like  your  Type  A  for  Background  and  midground.  Where  as   1-2mm  Sand  like  Type  B  for  the  foreground.

I  got  a  good  result  with  these  2mm  type  sands  growing  HM,  Glosso  and  pervula.
