i  keep  4  juvenile  discus  in  a  22  gallon  tank  with  sponge  filter  and  airstone.
I  have  noticed  that  their  fins  turn  blackish  in  colour  when  the  room  is  dark.  This  i  mostly  notice  in  the  morning.  Normally  during  the  day  and  evening  time  when  the  room  light  is  ON,  they  seem  to  be  perfect.  But  whenever  the  room  light  is  low  they  seem  to  darken  their  fins!  Is  this  normal?  Or  is  this  a  problem?

i  am  waiting  for  your  valued  opinion.

 Dear  Sandipan
First  of  all  Subha  Vijaya  Dashami.
Its  very  natural  for  every  fishes  not  only  discus  to  change  colours  in  dark  because  they  have  the  natural  tendency  to  camouflage,  thus  they  save  themselves  from  night  predators.Nature  itself  is  a  big  test  lab.
 Regards
 Kaushik

 Sandipan  ,

When  there  is  overhead  light  on  discus  tank  ,  Discus  feel  more  secure  and  hence  stress  free  ,  no  darking  .  When  they  are  under  stress  ,  sometimes  they  becomes  darker  .  you  need  to  observe  them  closely  .

Do  they  turns  darker  after  WC  ?

 Thanks

^^  Thats  just  natural  camouflage.  Don't  worry  about  it.
The  trouble  is  when  they  are  dark  in  Bright  light  too.
