All the the top guys come from your city - Chennai. Most of them stay in the Annanagar area. There is no chance of M/s Vardaman sending you anything. (unless it is by the truckload).
For your scourcing in Chennai you could contact Venkat (Admin) and i'm sure he will help direct you. |

Recentky I prepared PMDD from Lab grade reagents as I could not find Microsol-B in fertliser outlets in my locality.
I pepared with Fe-EDTA, Manganous Sulphate, Cobalt Chloride, Copper Sulphate,Sodiu Molybdate, Borate and Zinc Sulphate, DM water and Conc. HCl.
The preparation is a beer color liquid. As per the formulation, composition of mixture before preparing solution is like this:
Fe : 6.0%
B :0.6%
Mn : 1.3%
Zn : 0.4%
Cu : 0.05%
Co : 0.04%
Mo:0.13%
After making is 1 liter solution, I am applying it everyday @ 0.5 ml for every 250 lilters.
If you need more detail please put your post.
Regards

these r the composition
Total Nitrogen(N) - 13%
Available Phosphoric Acid as P2O5 - 27 %
Soluble Potash( K2O) - 27%
Fe EDTA - 0.033 %
B - 200 PPM
Cu Edta - 700 PPM
Mn EDTA - 500 PPM
Zn EDTA - 720 PPM
Mo - 005 PPM
Mg EDTA - 500 PPM
Vitamin B1 - 100 PPM
Can i use the above fertilizer for making the PMDD.

Fariz,
This composition looks to me that its more of phosphates and less of Micro nutrients. Note that more phosphates in water is more Spiky / Borwn alage.
Also add to this the fish food is a good bloom of alage from initial days of dosing. Also excess of Nitrogen is harmful for fish.....
Hence i would stay away from this.

updates on price list for pmdd chemicals from pondicherry
actually prices in pondicherry were double the amount than in other place.
bought microsolB from chandigarh dealers directly.
microsolB Rs800/ kg
potassium nitrate rs 210/ half Kg
potassium sulphate Rs 180/ half kg
mag. sulphate rs 20/ 450gms
boric acid rs190/ half Kg
PMDD after dilution with 1 litre water , it looks light green.
question is
how do u guys store these chemicals? any specific instruction, esp for microsol B?
attaching pictures of these lab grade chemicals which i had used for making PMDD. |

Congo, the Prices in Pondicherry should be about the same as any other city, unless you got all the chemicals from Chandigarh.
In Bangalore Microsol-B was available in convenient 100 gm packets and cost Rs.100 for 100 gms.
The other Lab Grade Chemicals you have got KNO3,H3BO3 and K2SO4 cost the same here too.
Look for KNO3 and K2SO4 from Vardhaman, they are cheap. |

Hi Madan
congo got his Microsol B from Chandigarh (and the Fetrilon too). That fellow had come for a visit here and when I met him he was really going crazy waiting to get his hands on the Microsol B. That possibly explains why he went straight for the 1 kg packaging instead of the more convenient 100 gm packs.
Actually he was worried more about the long term availability of food for his precious plants. Since it was not available in Pondicherry he got the stuff in bulk here. The Fetrilon is in a 100 gm pack though.
I would guess that having bought so much he is now concerned as to how to preserve it as long as possible therefore his query on how to keep it. I have noticed my packet of Microsol B caked up once it was opened and then neglected for a time. We were both wondering whether it degraded over time.
I would guess lab grade chemicals would be costlier than those used as fertilizers as they have to be as pure as possible. So it would make sense to buy the fertilizer grade chemicals though. It never occured to me to ask Vardhaman fertilizers for those. (I am a tubelight!!)
I seem to recall there were questions related to the relatively high concentration of copper in Microsol B. Is that significant? Especially if one is keeping shrimps or snails in the planted tank?

This one is for fariz.
Be sure as to what is the Nitrogen they are talking about. I had some across some foliar fertilizer (that is sprayed on leaves instead of the ground) for chillies that had a lot of micronutrients but the nitrogen was in the form of urea.
Urea nitrogen is released when it gets converted to ammonia then the usual path (nitrite -nitrate). I am making a guess that adding urea will lead to a nasty ammonia spike.
