Hi guys, I was thinking about lights for my new planted 2 footer.
Yesterday , I went to my LFS and they were trying to push me HITACHI tube lights with label ' Aquarium light '.
The guy said that they are using this light in their 100 g planted display tank ( its really beautiful ) and said that it's best for my tank size too. I have been using one of these in a non-planted tank of mine.. so I cant really tell if they are of use !
So is it anything really good , or just a gimmick ?
It produces a pinkish light from it. The fish's colors also look good under it.

Aquarium lights like Hitachi or Osram Fluora emits most part of their light spectrum in red and blue zone. Hence they appear less bright and pinkish to human eyes. Human eyes recognize brightness or lumen more to the green spectrum.
You definitely can use these lights for your planted set up. However it is always better to combine these lamps along with full spectrum lamps. This will creat more natural lighting in your aquarium.
