Fine river sand would be the best option IMO

Crushed coral sand/gravel OR Fine river sand (Crushed coral in your filtration/sump compartment for a stable/high pH level)

fine sand or fine gravel, btw dont mine/plough the rivers for the sand, you can get them easily at most of the LFS
please post your tank shots after setting up! |

Thanks for the replies..M thinking of keeping crushed coral in the canister filter to act as a ph buffer..but dont know where to source it from..any sources would be good help.
The best I have come up with yet is medium grained sand, shelled. But was wondering if a black colored substrate would look better..any ideas?? |

I suppose you can use shells broken into pieces in your canister if you do not find crushed coral

Would look good IMO. Btw, speaking of the substrate/rock proportion.. are you planning to keep Mbunas or Non-Mbunas?
