PostPosted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 12:03 pm Post subject: Indian Almond Tree Reply with quote

 Hi,
      I  had  read  about  the  leaves  of  the  Indian  Almond  Tree  being  used  to  lower  the  pH  of  some  breeding  tanks,  and  as  antibacterial  additives  for  treating  injured  fish.  So  I  went  about  searching  for  the  Indian  Almond  tree  .  I  found  one  near  a  park  at  my  house  in  Mysore.
 Thought  about  make  sure  that  this  was  indeed  the  Indian  Almond  tree  by  asking  the  experienced  aquarist's  and  breeders  at  IAH.
 I'm  posting  some  pics,  .......

 Pls  do  tell  me  if  it  is  indeed  the  Indian  Almond  tree,  whose  leaves  are  used  for  the  above  mentioned  purpose.
 Pls  VOTE.  Poll  Scrapped.  ADMIN

 Regards
 Prabhu

 Hi  Prabhu,

 Use  dried  brown  leaves  only,  boil  them  a  bit  before  using.

 Hello  Very Happy
 in  the  first  pic,  the  tree  that's  on  the  focal  point  don't  seem  to  have  the  structure  of  an  Indian  Almond  tree,  but  the  tree  next  to  it,  with  brown  leaves  is  the  one,  because  that  one  have  the  umbrella  shape  structure  Very Happy
 here's  some  of  my  experience  with  the  leaves...

 @borneosucker,
       Both  the  trees  are  the  same  variety.  It's  just  that  the  adjacent  tree  had  more  number  of  dried  leaves.
 Thanks  for  sharing  your  experiences  with  the  Indian  Almond  Tree  Leaves.

 Prabhu
