Boil  it  in  water  for  about  an  hour  and  check  it  out.  If  not  fully,  it  should  do  down  a  little.  Do  the  boiling  again  if   needed.
 Tying  a  stone  will  help.

@lineologic  -  will  do  that  on  once  i  get  a  free  time  (tuesday).....and  will  let  you  know  that  result  .....but  since  the  driftwood  is  1.5  feet  long  it  is  difficult  to  boil  in  the  vessels  available  at  home  ......but  no  problem  will  surely  try  it  out

@  Dabbu  -  tannis  look  good  ....but  also  spoils  the  colour  of  the  plastic  bucket  .....  Chuckle

weigh  it  down  properly  with  a  rock  and  use  it  in  the  tank  you  intend  to  put  it  in.  It  will  sink  with  time.

I  put  my  drifwood  from  the  collection  trip  in  the  desert  cooler  tank  and  forgot  it  for  six  months.
After  six  months,  took  it  out,  treated  with  PP  and  it  sinked.   Simple,  no  issues.   Smile

My  driftwood  from  Temghar  dam  is  still  floating  (weighed  down  underwater)  after  7  months.  It  is  tied  down  to  a  7  kg  rock.  Initially  it  easily  lifted  the  7  kg  rock  to  the  surface,  so  I  made  a  mountain  of  rocks  on  it,  to  sink  it.  A  month  later,  I  could  remove  the  mountain,  and  the  driftwood  wouldnt  pull  the  7kg  rock  to  the  surface.  Im  wondering  when  it  will  truly  sink.

Yours  was  a  small  peice.  Wedging  it  under  a  rock  should  do  the  trick.  It  looked  quite  dense,  so  shouldnt  take  much  time  to  sink.

Yes  Alistair,  some  driftwoods  take  a  really  long  time  to  sink.  I  don't  know  why?  But  its  sometimes  boring  and  frustrating  to  wait  for  it  to  sink.
But  my  dear  friend  patience  is  the  key.

An  hour  of  boiling  has  always  worked  for  me.  Even  if  the  wood  floats  after  boiling,  it  always  sunk  the  next  day.   Smile

In  my  case  I  boiled  mine  for  6  hours,  rotating  it,  since  i  could  just  submerge  aroun  30  %  of  it  in  the  largest  vessel  in  the  house.  Still  floats  after  7  months.  But  all  the  others  i  dealt  with  sank  in  a  max  of  1  week.  Some  even  in  a  day.  I  think  it  all  depends  on  the  type  of  wood  you  are  dealing  with.

Good  that  it  has  sunk.  Mine  refused  to  sink  and  I  didn't  have  any  patience  to  boil  and  keep  it  floating  in  water  for  a  month.  Just  positioned  it  such  that  all  the  sides  are  well  pressed  against  the  glass.

 Highly  not  recommended.
