They are really pooped after the trip.
It was back to the Sita River, from Hebri onwards.
They trekked up more than 3 Km towards the higher reaches of the river. |

Back in Chennai! This was the most thrilling trip that I have ever been on right up till I caught the bus back and this is the best group that I have gone on a trip with. Small group but everyone knew what their role was.
Special thanks to our guardian angel Trevor who made sure we get a fill of his brew before sending us out into another water body and true to his reputation he kept tickling our P*&^%i for the 3 whole days |

This danio ain't a new find. Even though it's been found a while back, a taxonomic placement is still under progress.
The possible new ones are yet to come and one among them is the Schistura in the 3rd pic that Trevor posted earlier. |

Nice discovery! Thanks for the pics and names, Trevor Sir.
The danio seems to be like esomus sp. mouth structure and barbels. But according to description on PFK whih mentions 1.5"(TL) this danio seems to be larger(~3").
I'll be waiting for classification of these new cyprinids and ofcourse photos after they settle in a tank. |

Thanks, Jibran, Ashish, and Preetham.
Yes, we had lots of fun.
Ravindran, Not many.
Hamza, The danios were once earlier found in an LFS and the maximum size found among them was 1.5". New Danio find
In the wild we found them upto 3".
Probably we are the only people to have live specimens of these fishes as of now. Majority are with Beta and Rahul who will do the proper study and describe them Taxonomically.
A few Pics.......
A beautiful crab.
Schistura niligiriensis.
The yet to be identified Loach. Schistura sp.
My still bleeding leg after 4 hours. Guys, Catching these fishes is easy now. Just follow our Blood trail
Regards,
Nayak.
Oops, did I fail to mention we caught an unidentified Badis sp too? |
