Hi  i  need  to  set  up  a  community  tank  for  a  friend.Am  not  used  to  doing  these  community  tanks  as  i  have   mostly  species  only  tanks. The  brief  would  be  to  have  lots  of  colour  in  the  tank. There  were  malawi  cichlids  in  the  tank  earlier  but  a  change  was  needed
 Tank  is  4  18  18
 Sand  Quartz  sand
Plants  Only  vals  and  needle  grass
 Some  locally  collected  stones
Filter  1200  l/h  internal  filter  through  a  spray  bar..it  creates  ripples  in  the  water  hence  no  oxygen
Heater  27  degrees  as  the  place  has  an  ac  duct  right  above  it

 Combo  1
 Angel,rams,platies,mollies,danasonic,gouramis

 Combo  2
Rosy  barbs, tiger  barbs, gouramis, danasonic, platies, mollies, gouramis  and  some  larger  tetras  like  black  neon  copper  etc

I  would  have  liked  combo  one  but  the  problem  is  the  mollies  are  really  harressing  the  angels  which  are  veil  tail.

 Any  other  suggestions?
 Hamza

 May  i  suggest  a  Combo  3:

Rosy  barbs,Neon  tetras,  cardinals, glow  light  tetras, black  neon,  hockey  stick  tetras,  pearl  gouramis,  denisoni,  platies, mollies,Congo  tetras,  emperor  tetras  ,red  tetra  and  rummy  nose  tetra  combination  will  work  out  for  adding  more  colour  in  the  community  tank
(platies, mollies  with  low  preference)  Thumb Up

 I  guess  a  55G  non-planted  community  tank.

First  tell  us  what  fish  your  friend's  heart  is  set  on  (his  favourite).  The  rest  can  then  be  selected  around  it.

If  his  budget  permits...how  about  an  assortment  of  rainbowfishes?

And  some  colorful  barbs  like...melon  barbs,  denisoni,  bimaculatus,  chinese,  ruby  barbs,  RTS,  etc...they  might  be  difficult  to  source  out  though.

You  can  even  go  for  CA/SA  setup  with  small  cichlids  like  Firemouths,  HRPs,  etc  these  can  be  mixed  with  mollies  and  swordtails  too.

I  couldn't  find  a  greater  disharmonious  group.  Sad
