I  own  a  three  tier  iron  rack/stand  for  3  footers.  Polystyrene  does  a  fine  job  except  for  when  it  comes  to  cleaning  around  the  aquariums.  The  edges  of  the  sheets  get  damaged  easily.

Did  a  little  research  and  came  across  EVA  Foam  Sheets.  Are  they  easily  available  in  Bombay?  If  any  guys  happen  to  know  such  retailers  please  update  me.

Would  also  require  some  more  alternatives  for  an  aquarium  base.

 Appreciate  all  the  assistance!

 Regards,
 Rohan.

I  use  black  cello  tape  around  all  the  edges  of  my  Polystyrene  sheets.  This  insulates  the  sheet  to  damage.

Check  for  those  foam  sheets  where  you  get  sponge  and  stuff  for  making  sofas.  It  is  a  rubbery  sort  of  foam,  kind  of  has  the  same  feeling  as  the  thick  white  foam  with  the  holes  but  is  thinner

Use  a  cello  tape  or  a  dressing  (white)  tape  over  the  styrofoam,  it  looks  neat  and  clean,  plus
 it  does  the  job.

If  you've  ever  been  to  kurla  fish  market  then  quite  close  to  it  is  a  rubber/foam  sheet  wholesale  market  (the  kinda  stuff  they  use  to  make  chappals  and  floaters)  i  bought  5  sheets  and  use  them  as  a  base  for  my  aquairums...  tough+durable+CHEAP!

Wow,  I  thought  it's  only  me  who  had  this  bright  idea  Dunce  .

I  have  done  this  on  all  my  tank  and  this  works.  (Use  the  widest  possible  cello-tape  available  in  the  market  for  the  least  number  of  "edges"  and  joints.

Nawed's  suggestion  of  using  those  rubber  sheets  is  the  best  solution..  Unfortunately,  I  have  been  to  Kurla  (Nehru  Nagar)  market  at  least  once  every  weekend  and  I  have  still  not  seen  these  for  sale.  Most  new  shops  (including  the  one  which  was  still  in  construction  last  week)  are  using  this  rubber-sheet  for  the  base  of  their  tanks.

Nawed,  can  you  give  us  the  name  of  the  shop  or  the  phone  number  (if  you  still  have  the  bill/receipt)?  Or  general  directions  to  these  shops  while  heading  towards  the  Fish  Wholesale  market  from,  say,  the  Eastern  Express  HW?

 Thanks,
 Sid

 Search  for  this  on  maps.google.com

Thakkar  Bapa  Colony  Rd,  patelwadi.kurla,  Mumbai,  Maharashtra,  India

It's  barely  a  km  or  so  from  the  Kurla  Fish  market,  and  it  runs  parallel  to  the  eastern  express  highway.

The  entire  road  is  a  big  wholesale  market  for  rubber  products,  just  ask  anyone  and  they  will  guide  you  to  shops  selling  these  sheets.

You  can  get  Styrofoam  sheets  in  JC  Road  (  Near  to  the  Ravindra  Kalakshetra  )   and  at  Ibrahim  Sahib  street,  near  Commerical  Street.
 (  It's  parallel  to  Commerical  Street  )
