I  got  a  turtle  with  possible  MBD  (soft  shell  syndrome).  I  know  all  about  the  calcium  intake  in  food  and  stuff.  He  doesnt  eat  whatever  I  feed  because  of  his  disease.

Now,  turtles  need  UV  light  to  process  the  calcium  they  get  in  food.

 1.  I  want  to  know  commercially  available  Vitamin  D3  supplements  ??  (not  regular  vit  d.  Must  b  having  D3

 2.  I  want  to  buy  UV  lighting  equipment  for  this  turtle  and  other  one  that  I  have.

I  know  about  teh  sunlight  thing.  I  have  been  practicing  it  with  my  old  turtle  since  more  than  a  year.
But  I  don't  have  enough  time  to  monitor  the  sun  thing.  Besides  you  can  not  keep  them  near  window  because  if  the  window  is  closed  the  UV  from  sun  is  filtered  through  glass.  If  window  is  open,  well,  let's  face  it  no  one  would  leave  it  open  and  go  out  for  hours  leaving  unattended.  You  can't  keep  them  in  balcony  totally  unattended.
Plus  you  haev  the  months  when  there's  no  sun.

I  am  having  1  turtle  with  soft-shell  disease  already,  and  I  haev  lost  1  RES  previously.  So,  all  in  all  UV  bulbs  are  essential.  Please  PLEASE  tell  me  if  there  is  any  UV  thing  available  in  India,  and  the  PRICE.  (If  you  can't  mention  an  approx  price,  then  it  is  useless  to  come  in  "INdian  community  forum")

have  u  got  a  ramp  for  it  to  bask  on?,  vit  d3  is  available  as  an  oily  substance,  i  know  an  injection  architol  that  we  use  for  humans  and  animals  ,  but  it  is  absorbed  very  slowly  in  many  cases  months,  but  cant  be  given  to  small  animals  even  such  as  cats,u  can  give  sea  cod  tabs  if  turtle
eats  it,the  best  u  can  try  is  give  it  direct  sunlight  till  it  recovers  atleast  ,  the  poor  little  thing.

 without  heat  reptiles  cannot  metabolize.

No  way  am  I  paying  3  thousand  rupees  for  an  american  product.  They  are  stupid,  and  we  are  stupider  if  we  have  to  buy  from  them.  No  one  makes  UV  bulbs  in  india??  (If  I  had  to  pay  in  US  price  I  would  wait  for  a  couple  of  months  and  get  it  from  relative..  29$  (Rs  1300))

I  have  the  basking  area,  just  no  UV.  And  this  month  there  is  hardly  gonna  be  any  sun.  I  mean  I  can't  really  monitor  the  few  minutes  of  sun  we  might  get  out  of  dark  clouds  and  keep  the  diseased  turtle  accordingly.
