Matsyagandha Mumbai-2010 Maha Fish Festival
Dec 26 to 28, 2010.
Venue: Bandra-Kurla Complex, G-Block, Bandra (East), Mumbai - 51.
Time: 10 AM (or 11AM) to 10 PM (There is some specific agenda. Please refer to link above.)
Entry: FREE
Highlights:
* Exhibits of 50 to 60 species of Marine and Fresh Water fish and other creatures.
* Food stalls for Sea-food lovers

PS: I am not entirely sure if this is going to be very good especially as the one of best "Vendors" in Bombay didn't know about this (See Vivek's comment below  ) I foresee a lot of goldfish, koi, "sharks" and Flowerhorns. (Also, as the entry is free and it's "holiday season", it maybe very crowded.)
PPS: Please note that the cost paid by the people with Aquarium Stalls in this event is Rs. 20,000.
Hence the prices of items will AT LEAST include regular selling price (i.e. at their own LFS with usual margin) PLUS the expense of transporting the fish to this exhibit (and associate "mortality") PLUS part of the Rs. 20,000 they have paid for the stall. So, if I go there, I am only considering buying items which I have not seen for sale anywhere else (..which is unlikely).
However, it may be a good opportunity to get in touch with vendors and then contact them later. |

| All Hobbists dont go there and waste your time as there is only one live fish stall which is "okay"........but its a delight for sea-food lovers.....no hobbisyt stuff |

To add to Suyash's comment..There is another awful stall which was selling Betta and only pictures/stickers of other fish.. They have "coral stones" (Yes, the ones potentially illegal, in an event run by the State Gov.!)
Plus the "coral stones" and all other stones didn't have a per kg rate.. You pick one, the guy at the stall looks at the rock then looks at you and then quotes some random number that comes to his mind.
That one large-ish stall with live fish had one (2 feet) Marine tank. The rest of them has some OK-to-good freshwater fish (with the usual mix of terrible choices for most home aquariums...like "tiger sharks").
Bottom-line: As Suyash said, Don't bother to go unless you love to pig-out on seafood.

thanks lovecutefish & Sidrock, you really saved me a day to look into my new tank a planned earlier. i guess they dont sell beer so the sea food will have to wait till the evening somewhere closer to home (south mumbai)  |

I'm not offending government but still:
I just find it funny that a event organized by the fisheries department is selling illegal stones legally!  |

That is typical of law enforcement & govt. agencies in India.
As I said earlier "It happens only in India".

i was present for the Fair , its only good for Fishery department , fishermans & breaders
there was only 2/3 stall for aquarium product , nothing intersting,
but had a great time having nice fingerlicking malwani food ,
