Another  weekend  and  yet  another  trip.   Very Happy

The  original  plan  was  Red  Hills  reservoir  this  time.  Later  we  got  to  know  that  it  was  not  a  good  time  due  to  the  overflowing  water  levels.

We  changed  our  plan  to  Thandal  on  the  Chennai  Bangalore  highway,  where  me  and  Marc  were  supposed  to  meet  at  7  am.  I  was  there,  but  Marc  was  stuck  in  a  traffic  jam.  I  had  all  the  time  on  the  road  side  to  shoot  all  the  interesting  things.

One  hell  of  a  vehicle  was  this!  Count  the  tyres,  if  you  can.  :  )

Link

Marc  reached  the  Thandal  venue,  but  then  the  fishing  spot  was  a  disappointment  for  the  heavy  water  flow.  Had  to  abandon  the  place,  considering  it  to  be  a  waste  of  time.  There  was  no  other  go  and  we  headed  straight  to  Chems  (  Chembarambakkam  ).  Chems  was  covered  up  umpteen  number  of  times  before  and  we  thought  we  make  it  just  a  habitat  study  trip.

 Shots  from  a  fisherman's  catch..

 Macrobrachium  sp

 Puntius  filamentosus

 To  be  contd...

Lawrence,  beautiful  filamentosus  they  were!  Never  seen  dorsals  that  long  either.

Vig,  if  you  check,  that's  18  x  8.  Makes  it  over  150  tyres  in  all!

Suresh,  we  usually  plan  it  out  around  weekends.  Just  drop  your  mail  ID  to  getfishes  [at]  yahoo.co  [dot]  uk  and  I  would  update  you  as  and  when.

 Thanks  Sumit.

The  next  capture  was  this  beautiful  lizard  -  Calotes?

As  we  went  inching  for  more  fauna  and  flora...

 The  Millipede

 The  Centipede

 The  Mimosa  flower

 ^^  Regret  the  bad  blur.  :  (

Then  the  catch  of  the  day.  Lady  Scorpion.

Never  knew  they  have  8  eyes!

The  Skink  -  It  was  a  looker  and  offered  a  great  pose.

Once  done  with  non  aquatic  photo  shoots,  we  realised  we  were  off  track  from  our  prime  interest.  We  both  went  into  the  waist  deep  water  with  a  mosquito  net  and  netted  a  few  wood  shrimp,  red  nose  shrimp,  Rasbora  sp  and  a  lone  Badis  badis  juvenile.

 Unknown  shrimp

This  was  a  beautiful  aquatic  plant.  ID  anyone?

 Another  plant  for  ID

A  close  shot  of  the  beautiful  flower  it  had.

By  this  time,  it  was  nearing  noon  and  we  knew,  very  soon  we  need  to  rush  back  home  to  spend  quality  weekend  time  with  our  families.

This  was  another  fascinating  trip  to  be  remembered.

 Cheers.   Smile

Nice  pics.  I  think  the  aquatic  plant  is  an  Aponogeton  species.  I  don't  know  which  one  though.

No  use  of  them  alive  Lawrence.  They  lose  their  colour  in  no  time.  I  have  six  of  them  alive  at  home,  they  look  jus  like  ordinary  filaments.
