I  bought  this  baby  FH  yesterday  from  Galif  Street.  I  think  it'll  will  get  a  little  head  because  this  flowerhorn  was  kept  with  its  Dad  in  an  aquarium.  I  saw  the  Father  had  got  a  head.  But  it  was  not  affordable  for  me  to  buy  the  Father.

Please  tell  if  it  will  possess  an  attractive  color?

Dont  worry  the  colors  of  the  flowerhorn  will  show  better  when  its  at  least  6  inches  long.  in  the  mean  time  feed  it  a  gud  quality  food,  &  variety.  chichlids  need  to  have  also  some  amount  of  plant  in  their  diet  to  keep  them  healty.

when  they  are  born  they  all  look  drab,  but  the  color  will  depend  on  its  gentics  &  then  the  food  &  the  environment

 Best  of  luck

I  Partially  Agree  with  that  point,

Flower  horns  are  hybrids,  bred  by  hybridizing  with  large  cichlids,  the  lineage  of  the  genes  is  too  varied  currently.  Though  the  original  cichlids  from  which  they  were  bred  are  sexually  dimorphic,  the  Flower  horns  dont  carry  this  trait  through  in  many  cases.

sorry!  Rocky2  &  Panther  i  was  not  trying  to  put  you  down,  you  are  right  in  way.  This  way  of  checking  can  be  used  as  a  thumb  rule  but  its  not  definitive  or  100%  accurate.  contrary  to  popular  belief  in  F.H.  both  sexes  are  able  to  produce  head  &  carry  varying  patterns.
Sometimes  certain  patterns  &  traits  will  be  true  with  a  F.H.  from  a  particular  breeder  (cause  of  the  lineage  he  has  followed  therefore  some  traits  strengthen  as  generations  pass).  Other  F.H.  from  other  breeder  will  exhibit  other  traits.

The  correct  way  is  to  check  the  sex  by  the  vent  determination  method.  By  the  time  the  F.H.  is  5.5  inches  to  7  inches  long  you  can  determine  its  sex  correctly  by  the  above  method.  So  Titash  wait  a  few  months  before  you  name  him  or  her.

 FYI,  regards!

(Titash  if  you  are  not  able  to  get  info.  on  how  to  do  the  same,do  let  me  know  will  write  a  post  for  the  same.TC)

ya  i  know  the  vent  method  U  means  female  and  V  is  male......but  its  difficult  to  spot  now  as  he  or  she  is  too  small,  few  days  back  i  went  to  a  LFS  he  had  a  couple  of  short  body  FH  i  picked  them  up  and  tried  to  find  is  it  male  or  female  but  couldn't  found  it....
