I  go  with  Indoreonectes  evezardi  too.

Give  him  cool  water  and  good  oxygen  content.  You  will  see  better  patterns  for  sure.

 Hey  Marcus,

I  was  thinking  the  one  from  Meghamalai  was  Indoreonectes  keralensis.I  will  show  you  a  good  picture  the  next  time  we  meet.  Was  discussing  this  loach  with  Rahul  yesterday.  He  feels  this  is  the  only  genus  (of  loaches)  with  nasal  barbels.  The  ones  from  Meghamalai  did  have  prominent  nasal  barbels  IFIRC.

Catalogue  of  fishes  lists  it  valid  as  Nemacheilus  keralensis  citing  this  paper  as  reference.

 Rema  Devi,  K.  ,  T.  J.  Indra,  and  S.  Krishnan   2002  (1  Apr.)  [ref.  26361]
On  the  distribution  of  Orenectes  (Indoreonectes)  evezardi  Day  and  O.  (I.)  keralensis  Rita,  Banarescu  and  Nalbant  (Pisces:  Balitoridae).  Journal  of  the  Bombay  Natural  History  Society  v.  99  (pt  1):  127-129.

Indoreonectes  evezardi  is  still  valid  according  to  CAS  again.

I  can  type  out  the  diagnostic  features  from  KCJ  s  book  or  The  Western  Ghats  book  if  you  want  more  data.

 Yogesh,

I  feel  your  loach  is  also  Indoreonectes  evezardi  only.  Here  is  a  pic  for  reference  :  I.evezardi

Thanks  Balaji,  felt  some  resemblance  about  features  getting  discussed  above  so  I  posted  the  pic.  Also  body  pattern  look  bit  similar  to  the  loach  Sai  posted.  Until  now  I  was  considering  this  as  some  unidentified  Schistura  sp.  Smile
