I ve recently got a pair of oscars from another aquarist here in bangalore. The problem is they have been fed BHM so far and don't seem to want to eat anything else now.
I am not allowed BHM in the house, strict veto by the other half
They are eating feeder fish - which I know can't be too good for them.
I ve tried a lot of other alternatives - flakes, different kinds of pellets but no go.
I even tried a few pieces of goat liver today but they just spit it out.
My problem is I am not allowed to store meat in the fridge or prepare it in the house, so I need a source of food which is cheap and easily available that can come from the shop to the aquarium.
I am trying to get one of these cooler boxes which I can keep cool which I could possibly use to keep some kind of meat in for a day or two.
Your suggestions please!!
What kind of meat, food should I try next?
one thing, all cichlids get adjusted to a particular feed or feeds based on routine. they naturally assume that anything else cannot be food and that you will feed them what they are used to, eventually. starvation is the best go. generally, you can starve them for 7 - 10 days without food. However, stick to 5 days. then feed them whatever you want them to get used to. don't worry about them being hungry, in the wild they would be used to it (hunger). just ignore them for 5 days then give them whatever you want. DON'T FEED THEM ANYTHING IN THAT PERIOD.
