Hi
Has any one heard about or used the canister filter from RS Electricals?
I saw one at a LFS nearby, it has UV light and 1400 ltr/h capacity and the price is also very cheap, similar to Sun Sun.
Please let me know if it is good.
Thanks

| They do the job of a canister and they do it pretty well, At the end of the day these are chinese filters, and in case they break down there is pretty much a next to nil chance of repairing them and you can forget about any spares availability. |

I have a RS-65 with my 80G. I had heard from some people that its cheap stuff and produces a lot of noise and vibration. All I can say after using it for so long is that theres hardly any noise and almost no vibration (atleast my one). I have also used a Eheim so I know about its performance but I am totally satisfied with the RS. Its cheap and worth the money. Eheim is the best, nothing comes close but too costly for me.
Also, do not go in for the one with UV i.e. RS-95. First, the lamp and the glass cover often break and the canister cannot be used it till you have sealed it properly (incase you dont want to use the UV functionality)which can be a real pain specially if you cant get a spare UV set compatible with the RS. Better to go with the basic brand of RS, i.e. RS-65. Also, no proper UV filtration will actually take place since flow rates needed for UV filtering has to be pretty slow to be effective. Anyways, decide what you really need and make your decision. Each one of us have a different perception & different experiences with different brands of canisters so basically you need to make up your mind. All the best. |
