Hi  All.  Joined  this  site  a  couple  of  days  back.  Here  is  a  photo  of  my  current  tank.

 Dimensions  :  52"x18"x24"
Stock  List  :  Cyrtocara  Moori,  Labidochromis  Caeruleus,  S.Fryeri,  a  pair  of  Burundi  Cypho.  sp.  North.  I  had  a  couple  of  Red  Zebra  the  day  this  pix  was  taken  but  I  returned  them  the  next  morning.

Currently  my  interest  is  in  a  L.Tangyanika  setup  .  Getting  a  tank  built  (165G)  and  thinking  of  stocking  it  with  some  Kapampa  or  perhaps  Mpimbwe's  (&  also  to  relocate  my  Burundis),  and  a  pair  of  Black  Calvus  Congo.  Nothing  yet  decided  as  of  now.  The  LFS  fella  and  person  building  the  stand  &  the  hood  has  really  delayed  my  setup  which  should  have  been  cycling  by  now   Sad  Gotta  bear  with  the  delay  patiently.  Got  lots  of  ideas  since  I  want  to  keep  the  biotope  strictly  Tangy.  In  my  80G,  I  had  to  add  the  submerged  ship  since  my  son  &  wife  really  wanted  it  in  there.  Also  have  a  20G  with  2  Blood  Parrots  though  I  dont  prefer  hybrids  and  strictly  stick  with  ONLY  African  cichlids.  But  then  thats  what  my  son  wanted  &  naturally  wife  stood  solidly  behind  him  .....  wife  happy  -  my  fish  happy  &  me  very  happy  -  my  165G  received  enthusiastic  support  at  home   Cheering

I  have  kept  my  20G  in  my  sitting  room  so  that  over-enthusiastic  and  curious  friends  &  foes  can  touch  the  glass.  The  80G  is  in  my  study  where  no  one  is  usually  allowed  to  enter  other  than  my  family  members  &  which  will  also  house  the  under  construction  165G.

Will  update  with  more  pictures  as  and  when  I  get  the  time  to  click  a  few  snaps.  Enjoy.

 Hi  Fishy_Cichlid,
First  of  all  a  warm  welcome  to  IAH  Welcome  .  Your  setup  looks  really  nice  and  eye  pleasing  Very Happy  .  I  hope  the  fishes  love  it  too  with  all  those  crevices  and  hiding  places.  Can  you  please  give  some  information  regarding  the  substrate.  I  like  it  Thumb Up   Try  to  use  more  rocks  in  your  setup  and  remove  the  artificial  ship  at  the  back.  It  is  kind  of  distracting  the  eyes.  Try  to  make  it  more  natural.  Also  try  to  hide  the  sponge  filters  at  the  back  so  that  it  can't  be  seen.  Regarding  the  thermostat,  I  can  say  that  is  the  most  weird  way  of  placing  I  have  ever  seen  Surprised  .  Does  it  serve  any  purpose?  Do  keep  us  updated  about  your  165G  Tanganyika  setup

Mridul,  thanx  for  your  honest  comments.  The  above  pix  was  taken  quite  some  time  back,  during  the  summers  &  naturally  one  needs  no  thermostat  then.  Wanted  to  remove  it  before  taking  any  picture  (had  stopped  the  powerhead  too)  but  seems  it  slipped  down  whilst  taking  the  photograph.  The  artificial  ship  remains  as  it  is  as  of  now  .................  will  be  doing  a  substrate  change  soon  and  maybe,  I  might  get  rid  of  it.  As  of  now,  my  fish  are  loving  it  ................  and  if  the  fish  are  happy  with  such  a  home,  it  would  be  quite  unfair  to  remove  it.

 Some  more  pixs  :

More  pixs  coming  .....  though  I  am  not  a  very  good  photographer.

My  165G  is  a  wee  bit,  too  delayed  but  scheduled  as  per  'Indian  Standard  Time'.  It  gets  terribly  annoying  but  one  just  cannot  lose  heart.  First,  the  tank  itself.  Wuz  aiming  for  a  6  feet  125G,  but  cudnt  get  a  branded  one,  so  I  fell  back  on  building  one.  And  all  hell  was  let  loose,  since  I  was  not  getting  the  supplies  on  time  as  per  my  specs  from  the  LFS  fella  and  I  cudnt  bunk  office  too  often  to  get  the  supplies  myself.  The  supplies  other  than  the  fan  &  the  lights  are  ready.  But  the  stand  and  hood  still  isnt  and  the  tank  itself  .....  a  lil  bit  still  wanting,  since  I  wanted  2  cross  braces  at  the  bottom  too.  When,  I  can  put  up  with  'chicklets'  &  'Shibo-raams'  &  'Tank-lickers',  I  should  just  maybe  cool  my  heels  till  then.

Thanx  Elly,  very  kind  of  you.  I  take  great  care  of  my  fish  and  are  a  part  of  my  family,  very  possessive  about  them.

Rocky,  isnt  black.  Some  pixs  were  taken  without  a  flash.  The  one  you  mention  is  very  light  blue  going  silverish.  Female  dolphin  do  not  color  up  like  the  males  in  most  malawi  species.  Have  only  2  males  mooris  in  my  setup.  Thanx  all.

Thanx  Tintin.  The  substrate  just  works  .........  personally  I  am  not  too  happy  with  it.  The  LFS  guy  offered  agate  pebbles  but  I  opted  out  since  pebbles  arent  a  good  substrate  with  the  food  particles  slipping  in  .....  might  cause  a  Ammo  spike  anytime.  Wanted  a  black  substrate  and  at  that  time  Tahitian  Moon  was  getting  a  lil  costly  for  me.  So  I  opted  for  a  cheap  1/4"  stonechip.  Does  the  job  better,  since  its  very  light  and  the  fish  are  able  to  move  them  around.  But  again,  not  an  ideal  substrate.  Will  be  changing  it  to  Tahitian  Moon  as  and  when  I  get  the  time  ......  maybe  after  I  have  cycled  &  stocked  my  165  G.

Very  Nice  and  healthy  fishes  mate.....  Clapping   But  I  personally   don't  prefer  mixing  Tanganyikans  along  with  Malawis,  esp.  Fronts

I  always  had  this  weakness  for  Cyph's,  though  technically  they  shouldnt  be  kept  together  even  if  there  arent  any  aggression  issues.  The  reason  why  I  am  getting  the  165G  and  like  I  mentioned  in  my  earlier  posts,  another  reason  to  relocate  since  I  had  already  decided  in  making  a  L.Tang  tank  soon.  Tangy  species  are  very  different  from  the  Malawis.  First,  L.Tang  was  formed  much  earlier,  about  7-8  millions  years  compared  to  L.Malawi,  which  is  around  3-4  million  years  I  believe.  Hence  the  bio-diversity  of  the  species  in  L.Tang  is  much  more  varied  having  had  the  common  ancestor  much  higher  up  in  the  chain.  In  the  case  of  L.Malawi,  its  much  lower  down  the  order  and  coupled  with  the  fact  that  its  a  more  recent  lake  compared  to  L.Tang  -  the  likeness  of  the  various  species  there  compared  to  L.Tang  is  less.  BTW  Mridul,  the  Burundi  isnt  technically  a  Frontosa  neither  a  Gibberosa,  though  many  people  (including  me)  like  to  think  of  it  as  a  Front  instead  of  making  it  too  complicated.  The  reason  why  I  mention  them  as  Cypho  sp.  North  in  my  stocklist.

Thanx  Sushant  for  your  comments.  Will  certainly  update  with  pictures  as  soon  as  I  get  the  165G  setup.
