Seems to be a great venture and I love the look of those fresh rotalas in stream.
What is the grassy plant in fourth picture? Can someone Id it?
And what is the other green rotala? |

Hi Hrishi,
Guess few of my ids are off target. Got a heads up from a friend in Kolkata
The ids could be as follows
What Id'ed as L. thermalis is Acanthocobitis botia
The P. gelius?? is indeed P. phutunio (Sai takes the cake)
One I Id'ed as P. cupanus seems to be Anabas |

Hirshi
More than the plants or fishes collected, its the enjoyment and thrill that I really devour and want to be part of that.
Nice to see the photographs; I really liked those.

Thank you all for your appreciation.
Hamza - The very sight of the rotalas underwater was out of this world.I have uploaded a video of it.Hope you like it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSDxZ6anMMI
The grassy plant is currently in my tank. Here is a picture of it
Any one on the rotala id's?
Abhis - The place is called Damdim. Its a two hours drive from New Jalpaiguri (NJP).I was staying in one of the damdim tea estate bunglow.
Rana - You bet.I cannot explain the enjoyment when i first saw the stream. This was the most memorable experience for me.Thanks for the appreciation.
Dipu Da - Thank you. Most of the pictures i have uploaded.
Some more pics which i managed to dig out Hope you like them
The tank in which they are currently in.
The natives
The rotalas in my tank
Finally before signing off, some more pics from the memorable trip
Another trap used by the local fisherman
A guest i invited to have a drink
Another shot of the stream
Hope u enjoyed my pictures. Thanks once again.
P.S - Sorry i had to give all the rotalas to a lfs here.It was rotting and plus my tank out here is too small to plant all of them.Would try and get some from the shop once they settle down. |
