Been  planning  to  pick  up  a  few  of  these..

Was  wondering  how  effective  these  are  in  snail  control...What  snails  do  they  eat?...do  they  eat  all  types  of  snails?

Any  observations  of  them  going  after  shrimps?

PS:  Anyone  selling  them  ...Let  me  know  as  well

Vyas,  I  had  a  few  that  I  let  in  my  ghost  shrimp  culture  tank.  The  shrimps  were  not  harmed  at  all.  Can't  say  much  about  what  snails  they  eat  as  I  found  them  all  dead  when  I  returned  home  after  a  ten  day  trip.  The  shrimps  were  cleaning  up  their  shells   Sad  .  The  other  snails  (MTS  and  Tambaraparani  ones)  were  healthy  and  going  strong.  Guess  my  batch  of  assassins  were  not  too  good.

From  the  trip  I  meant.  Most  probably  Achenkovil.  Shankar  had  collected  them.  I  took  the  lot.  Will  take  a  snap  man.  You  didn't  see  them  when  you  were  here?  Will  start  a  new  thread.

I  still  have  mine,  bought  4  assasin's  only  a  year  back!  to  save  my  tank  filled  with  trumpet  snails  ONLY!!

Now  trumpet  snail  is  reduced  to  a  very  good  extent!!  with  lots  and  lots  of  shells  left  behind!
In  the  same  tank  I  have  wood  and  rc  shrimps.  Assasins  have  not  gone  behind  shrimps  unless  they  are  dead.  They  scavange  dead  fishes  and  shrimps.

Now  I  have  more  than  20  of  em'  successfully  dominating  the  tank.

here's  the  picture's  my  f1  assasin's  fighting  for  food  in  my  inverts  only  tank.
If  there's  no  snails  to  feed  em'  I'll  give  tetra  bits  which  they  seem  to  like  very  much!

 hi  Mr  Vyas

I  had  a  bad  snail  problem  in  my  two  ft  tank  and  i  introduced  3  assassin  snail  and  in  2  months  time,  all  I  see  are  empty  shell  of  trumpet  and  ramshore  snail.  in  fact  I  saw  them  attack  other  snails  within  minutes  of  putting  them  into  the  tanks  and  now  I  have  lent  them  to  a  fellow  hobbyist  to  help  him  get  rid  of  the  snail  problem  in  his  tank.

i  have  not  seen  them  disturbing  any  other  fauna  in  the  tank  like  the  RCS  and  apple  snail

 regards
 ricky

you  do  not  have  to  feed  them  anything,  they  will  find  food  in  the  tank  for  themselves.

@Severumkid:  As  I  said  in  my  inverts  only  tank  I  dont  have  any  snails  to  feed  them.  So,  the  only  know  way  to  feed  them  is  fish  food!

@bharadwazputta:  No  special  procedures,  tetrabites  soaked  in  water  so  that  it  goes  to  the  ground  and  not  float. They  will  search  &  munch  them!!

the  pic  that  I  posted  is  also  their  dinner  time!!
