 Dear  Invinci,
I  suggest  you  to  collect  river  sand  or  sea  sand  from  the  shore.  Remove  the  fine  particles  by  seiving  it.  Secondly  give  it  a  wash  of  water  for  2-3  times  to  remove  flowing  dirt.  This  will  act  good  as  a  topmost  layer.  Maybe  1-2  inch  thick.
Secondly  you  can  use  garden  soil+organic  compost  as  a  bottom  most  layer.  Condition  is  it  should  be  washed  in  a  container.  so  light  flowing  dirt  can  be  romove.  layering  at  bottom  2-3  inch  thick.  you  can  mix  some  small  pebbles  for  the  easy  root  penetration.
Cleaning  planted  aquarium  is  easy.  First  is  frequent  water  changes.  I  change  10  litres  of  water  every  4-5  days.  I  dont  drain  it  completly.  I  use  a  piece  of  cotton  cloth  to  clean  the  glass  walls  daily.
Some  cloudiness  can  be  removed  by  filter  pump.  Secondly  the  dirt  of  fish  will  be  decomposed  by  bacteria  and  act  as  fertilizer  for  plant.  if  u  dont  like  the  dirt  then,  siphon  it  with  a  normal  pipe.

i  found  keeping  snails  very  useful.  but  if  u  overfeed  a  lot,  they  will  explode  in  number,  try  to  see  how  much  the  fish  eat  at  one  time,  and  feed  no  more.

Red  ramshorn  snails  are  very  good.  they  are  good  algae  eaters  also.

plantation  sand  in  mumbai  is  very  expensive..
its  around  Rs.450  for  1  bag..and  i  will  need  around  11  to  15kgs..so  its  out  of  my  budget..
apart  from  it  i  doubt  that  it  is  really  for  aquarium  plantation..
can  some1  guide  me  in  to  this  matter  as  to  what  can  be  done??..
also  suggest  some  good  shops  so  can  go  there  and  do  an  inquiry..

 edit:
i  attached  pic  of  driftwood  i  found  for  my  tank...
