Hi
It was a fine day, i returned from my in-plant training and logged into IAH...
i was surprised to see a WTG post....A used 120 gallon for FREE...all thanks to 'BETA'...
i then decided to upgrade my 50gal ' SouthAmerican Bolivian Ram Biotope ' to a 120 gal 'SouthAmerican Black water Biotope".......
i took the tank from Betas house in chennai and transported it to vellore without a crack, ufff i must say....
lifting the tank to the first floor was the most difficult part.....damn we broke the overflow.... ...guys if you live on the first floor and want to bring a huge tank, just forget the idea.....
a small overview of the specifications.....
SPECIFICATIONS
TANK : 4' X 2' X 2'
CAPACITY : Approx. 120 US Gal
BACKGROUND : Black
LIGHTS : 4 x 3W 3500K LED
FILTER : EHEIM 2217 AND AQUACLEAR 110 HBO
FILTER MEDIA : EHEIM Substrat Pro and Filter Sponge
SUBSTRATE : White Sand ( 40 Kgs )
DECOR : Driftwoods ( 8Kgs ) and round,smooth rocks
A teaser for now....
will follow up this journal as the tank sets in....
cheers |

| Good start. Are you only going to keep Bolivians in there? |

Discus juveniles are a bit tricky in tanks with substrates. You need to go in for semi adult discus of a brown strain to make it look natural.
Alternatively you can go in for Red Head Tapajos and Laetacara curviceps instead of Discus. |

I was looking for semi-adult brown strains, but the price factor hit me hard..
Im also thinking of buying juveniles n growing them in a 50gal BB tank, n later adding them to the 120...
RED HEADS are my long time dream, for now I'll stick with the red heads I guess...
the woods are still floating n are in the process of curing....I think I hav to wait for some more time to do the scaping...

| Growing out the juvis separately in a BB tank would be the best option. |
