"Netted us a Mystus Sp. "
A Query doesnt Mystus have a black spot on its body and tail? Coldn't see it in the pic so asked.
You are right about the Sand Mining Mafia. They have reduced rivers into gutters. weeds and grass have taken over the aquatic Fauna and Flora.
As a kid used to see fishes in the Bharatapuzha (keralas widest and largest) river at my native place now can see green stinking puddles at various spots.
And the thousand suns... He he you are wrong you didnt count the 3 on the left
The Trip and your writing all Rocks
Miss Seeing Trevor's Pic in the posts.

Mystus is a Genus. There are over atleast half a dozen known Mystus in Western Ghats alone. Which one are you talking about?

Interestign than any Blogs , Magazines or Stories.. Real time experience with known fellow beings and lot of picture to boost our imagination and making the interest of chasing fish in our deep under... Also helps uo to know about the place, biotope, flora and fauna details.. Awesome.. It is like visulizing a NatGeo or Discovery field trips in words and pictures
Thanks, Balaji

I will post the Biotope pics on Monday or Tuesday, Sujoy.
Guys, Saturdays and Sundays are chitchat days. I still have to reply to posts, posted by members when we were in the field. Many of those areas have no or very poor coverage. Hence could not reply immediately.

To continue....
The next spot we stopped had this strange sight, A termite mound growing on a tree.
Myself, Jhon and Rahul were drinking a packet of Curd, which was well in the process of fomenting into Cheese when Madhu and Deepak
came back from checking the habitat. It appears there was a rotting dog carcass there in the water, which inhibited the Fishchasers© ardour
somewhat. So we moved off from there.
Only to come to this corner of God's own.....Paradise!
Let me share the timelessness of the Paradise with you
Link
Even rocks had character in Paradise Anyone for Iwagumi?
And the catch among these rocks?
And millions and millions of wood shrimps.
So that was the end of the second day, when we retired to a new nesting place for ourselves. Somewhere warm and filled with food.
To be continued.....

Nayak, that video just gets me itching to get my backside into the field ASAP!!
Did you guys run into any pit vipers on the trip? All the habitats and the weather make it an ideal time to spot them basking in clearings.
