 Hi,

I  am  new  to  the  forums  but  iam  not  new  to  this  world  ,  yea  i  crossed  18  sometime  back.

ok  now  this  is  my  aquarium  as  of  27th  feb.

 1.)  2.2ft/1.2ft/1.2ft.
2.)  I  filled  it  with  beach  sand  1  inch.
3.)  Followed  by  river  sand  2  inch.
4.)  Made  a  mound  in  the  centre  to  server  as  a  round  about.
 5.)  Now  i  planted  7  plants.
 6.)  2  amazons,2  vallisneria,rest  i  couldn't  identify.
7.)  pH  is  7.5  now  and  negligible  algae  growth.

I  want  the  plants  to  grow  well  and  establish  themselves  comfortably  n  start  reproducing.
Then  i  will  release  some  fish.
I  am  planning  to  maintain  frogs  in  my  tank  after  a  month  or  so.

Since  my  knowledge  is  very  limited  on  aquariums,i  invite  you  people  to  step  in  and  post  as  many  hints, tricks, guides, facts  to  help  me  get  me  going      faster.

 Hi
Patience  is  the  key  to  be  a  successful  aquarist.
Kindly  allow  your  tank  to  complete  its  nitrogen  cycle.
You  have  already  introduced  a  pair  of  molly.  Normally  a  ratio  of  two  females  to  one  male  is  considered  ideal  for  livebearers.  This  gives  female  to  rest  for  a  while  or  the  male  will  be  constantly  chasing  it.
All  fishes  and  plants  need  a  stable  environment  to  flourish  which  means  stable  water  chemistry,  ph,  temperature.  etc.
A  stable  ph  is  more  important  than  an  ideal  one.  I  have  my  mollies  in  a  tap  water  ph  of  about  7.5  and  not  only  are  they  flourishing  but  breeding  like  hell.
 DO  NOT  adjust  your  ph.
Vinegar  might  harm  the  fishes,  I  am  not  sure  but  you  should  take  them  out  immediately,  change  the  water  and  then  put  them  back  in

anyone  around  here  has  spirulina  in  your  place.

On  who's  expert  advice  did  you  do  this    Surprised
Vinegar  is  acetic  acid  which  has  a  tendency  to  dissolve  body  tissues  as  well  -  please  don't  experiment  on  live  fish  -  if  in  doubt  about  something  please  post  your  questions  in  the  forum  and  you'll  get  help.
Mollies  prefer  slightly  saline  water  and  can  sometimes  even  live  for  48  hours  in  marine  water  as  well  so  if  they  don't  show  signs  of  distress  -  it  does  not  imply  that  you  should  keep  on  torturing  them  Sad

Adding  vinegar  is  not  leathal  to  fish  if  its  in  permissible  dosage.    But  the  point  is  adding  vinegar  or  muriatic  acid  doesn't  keep  your  pH  stable  as  long  as  your  water  is  well  buffered.    Next  day  you  might  end  in  a  high  pH.    If  at  all  you  want  acidic  water  the  best  way  is  to  get  some  soft  water  and  forget  about  the  pH.    Trying  to  adjust  the  pH  of  hard  water  using  acids  is  a  very  tricky  job.    Molies  can  do  just  perfect  and  breed  like  crazies  in  a  pH  of  7.5.

i  found  a  chemical  in  my  lab  that  increases  tetras  movement  speed  by  20%  and  attk  speed  by  10%.

Hi  Aids  Control.  How  are  you  ?  I  just  came  across  this  in  one  of  your  posts  :
."i  found  a  chemical  in  my  lab  that  increases  tetras  movement  speed  by  20%  and  attk  speed  by  10%."

Could  you  elaborate  on  this  please?
 Regards  Smile

70  ml  to  a  2x1.2x1.2  ft  tank?    Then  your  pH  would  likely  go  below  4  triggering  a  pH  crash.    When  adding  acids  to  reduce  pH,  there  are  no  hard  &  fast  rules.    It  would  depend  upon  pH,  hardness  and  buffering  capacity  of  the  water  sample  to  a  great  extend.    You  just  have  to  do  what  would  work  for  you.
