It  needs  high  lighting,  at  low  light  leaves  start  turning  green,  lower  leaves  turn  black  and  looks  very  ugly.
Give  it  good  lighting  >  3wpg  or  LSI  of  >8,  co2  and  iron  supplements,  the  leaves  will  develop  a  bright  pink/red  colour.
Like  many  stem  plants  ,  grows  moderately  fast.  Regular  pruning  and  planting  tops  makes  it  look  good.
Leave  2-3  inch  space  while  planting  as  leaves  are  big.

I  did  not  understand  your  question,  do  you  mean  that  you  want  to  plant  the  stem  in  bunches.
and  if  the  answer  to  above  is  yes,   then  the  lower  leaves  will  not  get  any  light  and  will  turn  black.
The  below  picture  will  give  you  an  idea  as  to  how  far  apart  I  have  planted  ammania  in  my  tank,  this  is  a  20  g  tank  ,  24*18*18
Also  you  will  also  notice  that  some  of  red  leaves  are  turning  green,  this  was  due  to  my  reduction  of  light  to  reduce  algae

 Dada,

In  my  3'  tank  I  have  just  4  stems  with  about  1"  distance  between  them  2  at  the  back  end  (Slightly  Taller)  and  2  more  ahead  (Shorter  in  hight)  these  front  stems  are  between  those  planted  at  the  back.

 Dada,

Correction  the  distance  between  the  two  stems  is  2"  and  the  ones  planted  ahead  have  been  placed  between  the  back  stems.

You  cannot  link  images  from  your  desktop  directly  with  "img"  option,  this  will  work  if  images  are  hosted  on  a  third  part  server  like  photobuket,  image  shack.
You  will  need  to  use   the  option  "add  an  attachment"  while  replying.

Planting  in  bunches  is  not  recommended  for  any  stem  plant,  they  are  best  planted  individually,  small  leaf  plants  can  be  planted  1-3  cm  apart,  larger  leaf  plants  can  be  planted  even  further  apart.
At  least  this  is  what  I  normally  do.  Smile

Also  keep  in  mind  that  the  stem  of  the  Ammania  plant  is  quite  brittle.  Will  easily  break  while  planting.

red  ammania  should  be  planted  a  wider  distance  compared  with  other  stem  plants  as  the  lower  leaves  will  turn  brown
it  is  best  when  covered  with  some  foreground  plants
